We like being inspired by other fields. A huge concept in microbiome analyses are (bio)diversity analyses. We think this is an underappreciated aspect of glycomes. So get ready for the mature get_biodiversity function in v1.3, which compares groups of samples as to their alpha diversity ("are glycans in group B more diverse than in group A?") and beta diversity ("does the distribution of glycans change between conditions?"). Both in pairwise comparisons as well as in multi-group settings. Both full sequences and extracted motifs/substructures. Since both the third anniversary of glycowork as well as its v1.3 update are fast approaching, I'll slowly share some of the upcoming highlights that'll be in v1.3 over the coming weeks (to avoid losing them all in the changelog:D; v1.3 is going to be biiig) [a note for the sake of completeness: you can always use these features in the developer's version already]

2024 will bring about a lot of changes in the alt protein industry. I think we'll see more LCA's conducted, a growing food tech ecosystem that includes a range of products including cacao and coffee, more focus on health claims, and a consolidation of products on store shelves.
