🔸 In their words 🔸 We recently released research into understanding the challenges faced by Young People from marginalised backgrounds in gaining employment. This research addressed the lack of qualitative data from Young People themselves, and asked staff in our Youth Employment Program the factors that inform their decisions and aspirations around employment pathways. We need to hear, listen and learn from Young People if meaningful change is able to happen. This research is available for free download on our website: https://lnkd.in/g3WNwimb #GoodCycles #YouthEmploymentProgram #Research #YouthUnemployment

Is there really a shortage of talent or are we making that up? 🤨 Like poet Jay-Z says 🎶Men lie, Women lie, Numbers don’t…. Check this out ⏩ 49% of immigrants working in America have a Bachelor’s Degree, compared to ⏩ 37% of Americans who have bachelors degrees Worse Immigrants make 17% less in pay than Americans in the SAME role. 🥴 Hear me out There are 2 million college-educated, work-authorized immigrants and refugees in the US with expertise in critical industries, but systemic barriers stemming from accent bias and foreign education bias prevent them from being able to put their experience and expertise to work in the U.S. This is a waste of human capital and potential. So i’ll ask again, do we really have a talent shortage? Let’s talk about it, shall we The way I see it, there’s a failure to leverage immigrant talent Excited for my audio event today with Amaka Ifeduba, PhD Candidate at Texas A & M University, happening at 12p ET/ 11a CT Are you joining us? #immigrant #leadership #talent #humanresources #IMMIGRIT

🚨Only 7% of the whole UK population is privately educated. However, socio-economic diversity in top jobs shows something different. 65% of senior judges, 59% of civil service permanent secretaries, 57% of the House of Lords, 52% of Junior Ministers, and 44% of newspaper columnists went to private schools. The “Elitist Britain” Study, conducted jointly by The Sutton Trust and Social Mobility Commission asserts that the nation's most influential individuals are five times more likely than the general public to have attended private schools, highlighting a pressing social mobility issue. Promoting socio-economic diversity should be a central mission for the UK ensuring we make use of the talents of people from all backgrounds. To address this inequality, we must dismantle socio-economic barriers preventing entry into leading industries and professions. 💡 Our vision is a society in which everybody has an equal opportunity to realise their full career potential, regardless of social background. That’s why we support more than 3,000 students each year to access and sustain top graduate jobs Do you believe in our vision too? Support our mission now by sharing this post with your network 🔁 📣If you know anyone that can benefit from our free career support, make sure to refer them to submit an application for our free career support: https://lnkd.in/gwifRjf #SocialMobilityFacts #SocialMobility #upReach #SocioeconomicBackground #ClassDifference #WeNeedToTalkAboutClass #Support #University #Students #DEI #SEB #DiversityEqualityandInclusion #Equality #EqualityForAll #Awareness

The return of class politics as a clear political divide is the major trend of the past decade- but now the right is the home of the working class. Will we see this increase in NZ as well- especially among our growing migrant working class? ( almost 30% of nzers are born overseas...and if you add those parents born overseas this is substantial sector- especially in Auckland). But also, will tertiary reform by the right also become a political tool if tertiary education - and the types of it- becomes the basis of the new political and class divide? https://lnkd.in/grHDCP44
