Good news for National Parks! The Senate's FY2025 spending bill proposes crucial funding increases for the National Park Service. Highlights: → Restoring 450 staff positions → Addressing overdue maintenance → Enhancing visitor experience This bipartisan effort recognizes our parks' importance, countering years of underfunding despite increased visitation. As a National Parks enthusiast, I'm hopeful this will help preserve these treasures for future generations. What's your favorite park? #NationalParks #Conservation

The Conservatives have an upper hand when it comes to planning and the forthcoming election. The consultations undertaken in relation to national policies and law, alongside the countless hours of debate, have provided critical and helpful comments to the current Government from those immersed in and leading our industry. The #housingcrisis has been covered in detail and many experts have been vocal that whilst 'brownfield first' makes sense, it falls far short of being a solution. Armed with this catalogue of knowledge and advice, it is bitterly disappointing that the Government rhetoric is unchanged and does not appear to carry a solution. The Conservative Manifesto: "We have delivered over 2.5 million homes since 2010, including meeting our commitment to deliver one million homes in the last Parliament..." "We will deliver 1.6 million homes in England in the next Parliament by: Retaining our cast-iron commitment to protect the Green Belt... Our national planning protections mean there is never any top-down requirement for councils to remove Green Belt protection and these will remain in place." The above target requires 360,000 homes to be built (not just planned) each year for the next five years. Building at scale, quickly, in the right locations means we need to review ALL land available to determine whether it is suitable for development or protection, not simply assume the latter. #marrons #generalelection #planning #GreenBelt

I wonder why some think it is okay for a city council to run a surplus and increase taxes? The council is, in all technicality, a nonprofit entity that represents the citizens of that city with in the parameters laid out in the provincial legislation. It is not there to make a profit. It is there to ensure the services for its citizen is provided. Running a surplus means over taxation. Means that, as a nonprofit representation of it citizen, it does not need additional money to fund the needs of its citizens. So in all technicality, there additional taxation is therefore illegal and imo, thieft.

Charles Richardson recently commented in The Times on the new Government's bold approach to overhauling England's planning system. Amidst numerous planning disputes, their ambitious mission to "bulldoze through" the current system stands out.
