U.S. agencies spend considerably more on Women, Peace, & Security initiatives, with the DoD spending the least, by far. However, it doesn't always take funding to align these tactics into our strategy. It does, however, take serious commitment to the incorporation of women's participation and perspective into our defense strategy throughout the services. In particular, there are missed opportunities in intelligence and security cooperation. As this article states, when we understand the importance of WPS internally, much more can be done externally. Thank you Dr. Maleeka Glover and Lady Tee Thompson for your expertise and comprehensive responses. Thanks for touching upon how the exclusion of women from decision-making produces disproportionate and long-term consequences such as education disruptions and neglecting health needs. Marginalized women are overlooked—especially in conflict zones gender-based violence is prevalent. Fatigue comes with longer-term crises; this calls for sustained resource resilience, as Dr. Glover highlights. There needs to be more representation at all levels of participation, where voices are not limited. This means more representation in crisis management and strategy implementation. Lady Tee Thompson, thank you for your passion and for standing up for what CEDAW stands for as a framework, as the guiding principle at the heart of the crisis. #SDG5 #UNAWomen #WCAPS
