Research Wednesday Dive!! We’re excited to spotlight Carles Safont Aparicio, who joined our course in 2022. During his studies, Carles gained invaluable experience working with Shamrock Rovers F.C. before securing an internship role at FC Midtjylland. His impressive journey didn’t stop there—Carles has since taken on the position of 1st Team Set Piece Analyst at Manchester City Football Club. For his research project, Carles undertook a detailed analysis of 1,923 corner kicks from the 2022/2023 Danish Superliga season, revealing key insights into offensive and defensive strategies. With an average of 10 corners per game, his findings showed that while 28% of corners led to shots, only 3.48% resulted in goals. His in-depth breakdown showed that inswing deliveries, used in 58.6% of all corners, were by far the most effective, contributing to an impressive 68.66% of goals scored from set pieces. One of the most interesting findings was that corners delivered to central zones, particularly Zone 3, located directly in front of the goal, had the highest success rate, with a 6.04% goal conversion rate—far surpassing other target areas. His research highlights the importance of strategic placement and delivery in maximising set-piece opportunities, especially with inswing deliveries to this central area proving tactically advantageous. Despite these offensive insights, turnovers still occurred 35.21% of the time, highlighting the importance of defensive setups. Carles’ research demonstrates how even minor tactical adjustments, like targeting the most effective zones or delivery types, can make a significant impact on performance. Join us in congratulating Carles on his journey and the fantastic contributions he's making in the world of performance analysis! The success & longevity of Southampton Football Club's MSc Work Placement programme is unrivalled. This graphic highlights a decade of analysis placements in partnership with the University of Chichester's Sports Performance Analysis masters. The career progression of those mentored by the staff at the football club is fantastic. The Saints have an established, robust, & progressive placement programme fostering a positive & rewarding internship experience for students. IMO it remains the benchmark for sports organisations. I've witnessed the mutual benefits for club & student. SFC 'VALUE' the role & the student. It's funded, it's immersive, it's challenging & above all else, it's facilitated by caring & supportive experts. Good People + Robust Processes = Positive Experience The students below deserve all the credit for transitioning into your dream jobs, and your achievements remain yours to celebrate. However, the gatekeepers & 'analyst makers' should be applauded & thanked. A nod to Nathan Hurst & Natasha Patel & the current Analysis team for the continued significance placed on providing an excellent learning experience. It would be remise of me not to mention Matt Crocker & Les Reed for it was under their watch that a vision & belief in opening the doors to Staplewood some 12/13 years prior providing the catalyst. And to my friend & predecessor Dr Matt Robins for coupling theory & application way before it became cool. I wonder what the true number of placement graduates entering the world of sport is through SFC's placement programme? Hundreds would be my guess. #Analysis #Placement #Success #Positive #Experience

Between the NIL Blitz newsletter and other network updates my focus tends to be on the Collegiate side of name, image and likeness. But as the industry progresses toward revenue sharing and a new day dawns in college sports, I want to shed some light on the Commercial side of the operation (aka what people are calling "sustainable" or "real" NIL). A relevant + recent example that Opendorse helped facilitate was with COUNTRY Financial®, in partnership with LEARFIELD. If you’ve ever coordinated on-site events with student-athletes, you know it’s no easy task! Between practices, game days, recovery sessions, and coursework, their schedules are packed. But when everything clicks, the connections made between athletes, brands, and fans are special. From meet-and-greets and basketball clinics to career development workshops and pre-game tailgates, athletes across the country engaged with fans and families in meaningful ways through this NIL deal. These events weren’t just appearances — they were opportunities to build authentic, lasting connections with local communities. Love seeing partnerships like this come to life and can’t wait to see more impactful moments unfold throughout the season! #NIL #CollegeAthletics #SportsBusiness #NameImageLikeness #CollegeSports #SportsBiz

Industry-based experience like this is so valuable to the student looking to work in the sector, unlocking the link between theory and practice - there is only so much that can be learnt in the classroom. SFC and the University of Chichester should be congratulated on such a trailblazing collaboration that sets the standard. I’ve always felt the PA sector have led the way and been very forthcoming and accepting of student internships; it is a shame that at other big clubs, particularly in the PL, that is not always the case for Sports Science, S&C and Medical/Allied Health sector students. Why not? There’s no secrets as to what’s going on inside these clubs and there can be real value to both club and student. As Louis notes, where there are proper processes and structures in place for internship students it creates and fosters an immersive and challenging environment. Great internships happen up and down the country in the lower leagues, and the students often provide invaluable support behind the scenes across the season and add value to their respective clubs’ programme, but it should be the big clubs that lead the way on this, just like Southampton FC have shown here 👏👏

College admission tours are for demonstrated interest, why should we use TouredIt? This is one of the most important questions we get asked often, and to put it simply, our tours are also able to offer demonstrated interest for each school! With TouredIt we offer 1-on-1 in person personalized college tours, many of which either start or end at the admissions office. By letting admissions know before or after the tour, demonstrated interest is applied to the client. Beyond demonstrated interest, there are many other benefits of 1-on-1 connecting and touring with a college student. Pre-college students get a leg up socially and academically, even before they reach campus as a freshman. They get tailored insights on what classes to take, what clubs to join, how to get into selective clubs, who to make friends with, and how to approach/get an internship during college. We match clients based on similarity. Fascinating Bright Blue Ludgate Lecture with Baroness Alison Wolf, the UK's leading expert on skills and Professor of Public Sector Management at King's College London, about improving the UK apprenticeship system through decentralisation and simplification. Interesting that: 🔹 Switzerland has the best apprenticeship system internationally; in place since 1880 🔹 UK has among highest average apprenticeship wages in Europe 🔹 Hairdressing is one of the careers with the highest job satisfaction 🔹 UK private sector spend on skills has been declining since the 1990s, but is not especially low relative to other countries 📺 Watch here: https://lnkd.in/eD84nPSX

Digital Marketing I Social Media Marketer l Content Writer l Graphic Designer l Creative Thinker l Digital Brand Value Matters Worked For 25+ Brands And Transformed Its Digital Value!
Isn't Clubbing Good 🤔? I'm talking about benefits of Being Part of College Committee/Club 😅 I have been part of various clubs from my Junior College itself and found myself growing at every stage. Here are certain benefits you gain by joining a college club: - you have exposure to "practical experience" - you make "good connections" - you have "value addition" on C. V - you know " what I am better at" - you find "more opportunities" - you have your own "brand value" in campus - you know "your weaknesses" - you refine "your skills" - you " learn new things" everyday Last but most important, - you create "best college memories" that lasts forever I hope you found post helpful, do everyone let everyone know if you are holding any position in any club or been part it or any good experience there. Thank You, Keep Growing! #clubs #committee #responsibility #collegeclubs #fests #events #benefits #growth #skills #personaldevelopment

🎉 Just wrapped up organizing my last The Product Folks GrabChai event! 🙌 Balancing coursework, projects, internship, and content creation has been a juggle, but the journey with TPF over the past 1.2 years has been worth it. I learnt a lot from this experience, made many connections, close friends & had loads of fun!! I still remember how this initiative started with the intent of having fun and informal discussions on products… & it scaled in no time From 4 attendees to 50+, experimenting with formats, hosting inspiring speakers, and collaborating with big names – it's been a wild ride. A huge shoutout to the man in TPF who had my back through it all - Vikram Bhandari While overseeing the last TPF event in collaboration with Finance And Consulting Club, IIT Hyderabad, I decided to vlog the experience. Because why not? I thought it might encourage others to try out this thing After all is said and done, organising and hosting events is something I'll keep doing for a long time, alongside whatever job comes my way. Link to vlog: https://lnkd.in/dnE3jtxV P.S. Do check out this vlog. Who knows, it might inspire you to try organising events. #meetups #events #productmanagement #fun #learningjourney #networkingevents #networking #connections #friends #iit
