Charities - the set and forget myth No doubt all persons responsible for charities (board, management etc) are aware that there is an ongoing obligation to review the governance and operations of the charity to ensure it remains eligible to be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. For those that need a refresher or are looking for a way to document this, the ACNC has a self evaluation form that can be completed and signed by the board. It's a good way to meet your obligations... but ultimately ensuring all responsible people are invested and across the activities of the charity is an even better outcome. When you think of a UK charity, the chances are you'll think of one of the "big ones". That's the power of advertising, right there, huh? But when you look at the UK charity sector as a whole, the "big ones" make up just a tiny proportion: 💡 99% of UK charities raise under £10m each year. 💡 96% raise under £1m 💡 80% raise under £100,000 💡 47% raise under £10,000. That last group, the NCVO calls these micro charities, makes up nearly half of all UK charities. Overwhelmingly they're the charities just like Lichfield Re:Cycle. They sprung up to address a direct local need, they're run by your neighbours, and they support others living in your communities. So, a donation to one of these charities can have a huge impact - on the charity's ability to carry out its work and the difference it can make to your home town. #SmallCharityWeek #50by50 #charity #fundraising #community
