This holiday season, a time when there is often a rise in scams, we share Lilah’s story as a victim of BEC to help the industry learn from her story and underscore the need for change. At the altar, Lilah Jones envisioned life with her new partner starting differently. After their New Year's Eve union in Puerto Rico, she began a quest for a dream home in Chicago, navigated challenges and eventually finding the ideal home for her family. But as they neared closing, a scammer impersonating the title company stole her $130,000 down payment in a BEC scam.
