This weekend I went to Darlington Raceway to watch a NASCAR race. {Where are my nascar fans?🙋🏻♀️} I got to stand right next to a pit crew member as he lifed one of these huge tanks and filled the car pre-race. They said the tank weighs around 100lbs when full! It got me thinking that filling up those cars is hard work but without it the engine won’t go! It’s hard but necessary. So what fills you up? What keeps your engine running? For me, professionally, I found a few essential things needed to keep my tank full. 1️⃣ Continued growth 🌱and education 👩🏫. Helps me feel like I’m progressing and pushing myself. 2️⃣ Connections and expanding my network. 🤝 Knowing I’m not alone and having others to lean on for support. 3️⃣ Rest 🧘♀️Taking breaks and vacations is essential. 4️⃣ Fun 🤩 I like to celebrate wins, working with and for people I enjoy spending time with and focusing on the rewarding parts of the work. But all of those things do take work. It’s easy to… 🛑Be so focused on the day to day that you don’t push yourself into the next set of skills. 🛑Stay in your office or cubicle and not reach out to coworkers. 🛑Work through lunch and postpone a vacation for a less busy time that never comes. 🛑Focus on what isn’t working and continue to work with draining people.
