'...you can't expect someone who has never been in the legal industry… to compete with someone who has a father that has worked in the City in law firms all their life [and] knows the entire process from back to front… I think it's massively unfair...' – Trainee solicitor There is a widely acknowledged and long-standing difference in legal qualification outcomes by ethnicity. To increase its understanding around this, the Solicitors Regulation Authority commissioned University of Exeter to look into potential causes. The resulting findings have shown the factors are driving these differences and identify ways to help to improve outcomes for all students.
