Family farms are in trouble: Safeguard your family. How many family farms will you watch fall before you decide to stand tall? That might be a painful question for many people in the farming community. Particularly those of us who come from long lineages of farming families that have shaped the societies so many enjoy today. I asked myself this question 2 years ago and it is this question that led me to creating the Get Funded events. Get Funded is specifically designed to find and give a platform to generational family farmers who have a life-changing agricultural project. Get Funded surrounds these visionary farmers with the best technological minds, business minds, and financial minds in the world. 📣 Reminder from the California Strategic Growth Council’s (SGC) Agricultural Land Equity Task Force (Task Force)! 🌳 There are now even more ways to weigh in on how California can #equitably increase access to ag land for food production and traditional tribal agricultural uses! Along with its planned quarterly public meetings, the Task force now also hosts subcommittee meetings to discuss recommendations specific to:  🔹 Sustaining Natural and Cultural Resources  🔹 Equitable Ag Land Grants and Resources  🔹 Community Outreach  These additional public meetings will give subcommittee members time to discuss each topic in more detail than the quarterly meetings allow. Task Force members will then take outcomes discussed back to regular meetings and help determine how these topics will be elevated in the Task Force's final recommendations in 2026.    The Task Force includes thirteen members, who meet four times a year to learn about and discuss ways California can equitably increase stable access to agricultural land that promotes farmers’ economic #resilience, Tribal sovereignty, and healthy natural working lands. The GAO recently released a report indicating that USDA had to do better with collecting, tracking and sharing information about foreign ownership of agricultural land in America. Glad to see attention being paid to America's farmland - its a vital resource for this nation and who owns it matters! Having sound information is key to informing good public policy. The Tenure, Ownership, and Transition of Agricultural Land (TOTAL) Survey is our nation’s best source of information of many kinds about agricultural land ownership. But the TOTAL survey was last conducted in 2014 with state-level data for only select states. AFT and our allies have urged Congress to commit at least $15 million in the next Farm Bill to ensure that the next TOTAL survey will give us better information so our nation can protect our agricultural land. Looking through the book again over the weekend, " The Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert T. Kyisaki. Something got my attention that I will like to share. It read, " The year was 1956. I was nine years old. By twist of fate, I attend the same public school the rich sent their kids we are Primarily a SUGARCANE PLANTATION TOWN. The managers of the plantation and the other affluent people such as doctors, business owners, bankers sent their children to this elementary school". Reading this took me aback to ask these questions; How do I see a farmer and what made it so, what is my town known for? There is a geographic school of thought on Environmental determinism; which explains that given mans surroundings and it's God, nature's given resources man will make the most by exploiting sustainably these resources. Government assistance may or may not come, but we must create a niche on what we and our town should be known for not just limited to agriculture but other unique technical and human resources. Though, limited by the security level were government needs to play a major role, we must begin to look back at how most great civilizations came about and it will amaze you to know that tilling the soil was pivotal Through our formative years in school we learnt agriculture and not agricbuisness, It changed most persons opinion towards what it really entails. To cap it all most work done at the school farm we did it to serve punishment for one or two offences and this sank down the believe that farming is synonym to suffering, punishment and for defaulters. But this is not true. The truth is we must not be carried away by the chicken litle wave and the one in us, we must at one point or the other seat back, know the status -quo, what did we miss and how can we meet-up Happy new week!!
