Happy to see the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) mentioning us a leading player in the #CCUS industry!   Currently, we are delivering seven carbon capture units with a combined capture capacity of around 1 million tonnes of CO2/year.   Together with Aker Solutions, we are delivering a Big Catch™ #carboncapture plant at Heidelberg Materials’ cement facility in Brevik, Norway, and we are delivering a FEED to Hafslund Oslo Celsio to develop carbon capture at the waste-to-energy facility at Klemetsrud in Oslo, Norway. Both #CCS projects are part of Longship, the full CCS value chain development enabled by Norway’s strong competence in both carbon capture and storage. “There is no credible pathway toward net zero without deploying carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) at scale,” said Gavin Rennick, president of SLB’s New Energy business. “In the next few decades, many industries that are crucial to our modern world must rapidly adopt CCS to decarbonize." Aker Carbon Capture and SLB announced today that they have completed their transaction for a joint venture which combines SLB's carbon capture operations with Aker's. Together, the new company will have seven technology installations in progress that have the capacity to capture up to 1 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. Specifically, details regarding operational expenditures (opex) are crucial for assessing the project's long-term viability and sustainability. Being the first CCS Project out the gate in the cement industry comes with its challenges. But oh, how satisfying it is to be nearing completion at Brevik CCS! Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting a delegation visit from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and we had a lot to discuss: 👉 How does the US Inflation Reduction Act compare to the EU Emissions Trading System and the Innovation Fund? 👉 How do we share the technical and regulatory learnings we’ve drawn thus far to facilitate the next projects? One main criteria of success in the Longship Project, is that Brevik CCS shall be the first of many in our industry and beyond. The amount of visits and attention we receive gives solid ground for optimism in this regard.
