Happy #Juneteenth family! 🖤 Today we celebrate freedom while also acknowledging that the fight for true justice and equity must continue #ForCultureForCommunity. https://bit.ly/3Nd9iEF
Lately I'd say the long arc is bending away from justice. Inequality is growing. Civil rights are eroding, and the imperfect institutions designed to protect them are being politicized in ways that even a decade ago would have seemed impossible. The question that faces us today is "do we chose a too-slow incremental improvement (Biden), or a chaos agent that will blow everything up for everyone (Trump)? Do we work to improve the system, or do we burn the whole mess to the ground?" Think carefully about this choice, because there will be no do-over.
As we celebrate Juneteenth, let's honor the spirit of the day by performing acts of kindness. Given the heat, consider checking in on our elderly neighbors and bringing them something refreshing, like a cold lemonade or a box of popsicles. Small gestures can make a big difference! #Juneteenth #ActOfKindness #Community #StayCool #CheckOnElderly #SpreadLove
We must teach our young brothers and sisters who we are and we come from greatness! We must tell our ancestors history (Story) which is a reflection of ourselves. I hear my ancestors cry out!
Today is the day we can all appreciate having the opportunity to work and provide for our families out of our own free will!! Never forget our ancestors didn’t get that opportunity!!!
Happy Juneteenth! We celebrated here in MN in many ways. Today, our play Kumbayah the Juneteenth Story will be seen by over 1K people. It was written by our founder, Rose McGee and will be produced in partnership with Minnesota Humanities Center. We wish joy to all people as they take part in celebratory festivities. Onward! 🧡
