A big mistake I see a lot of HR tech companies make is trying to be everything to everyone. Sure, your technology may work well for any size organization across any industry, but that doesn't mean your message positioning should try to appeal to the masses. Because a message designed for everyone resonates with no one. The key to gaining market share in this overly crowded space is to stand out from the sea of sameness. And that requires getting hyper-focused. Check out The Demand Gen Fix podcast for tips on how to do this. One piece of advice every founder needs to hear... ‼️ "I always advise Founders to hire well and hire early. If you’re looking to scale, you need a top People/Talent Lead within your first 10 hires. At 50 heads, I would suggest a People Partner and a Talent Lead." For more advice, listen to the full podcast linked below 👇 #TalentAcquisition #People #HR

Thanks Nolan Church and Kelli Dragovich for having me on the HR Heretics podcast to talk about topics I think are critical right now: why we’re seeing DEI backlash, how companies can actually make progress in building better workplaces that work for everyone, and how to have good faith conversations when you don’t necessarily agree. You can watch at https://lnkd.in/gkPPd4x6 or download it wherever you get your podcasts. I was especially excited to talk about a topic that's widely misunderstood right now — equity. Recently, I’ve seen equity positioned as something that's in tension with meritocracy when, done right, it’s actually a prerequisite for identifying, hiring, and advancing the best talent. I included a quick clip with my thoughts below, but check out the full episode for more, including an example of how one company created a more meritocratic hiring process using an equitable approach.

Thinking about different approaches to marketing your company? I had 3 business owners in the studio today recording new episodes of their collaborative podcast, Workforce Therapy Files. It's been an engaging format for them to individually promote their expertise, while sharing the cost. It's just another way a custom-branded podcast can produce in-depth content, in a very cost-effective manner. #gotpodcast? #wantone? #jimrayconsultingservices Thanks to Molley Ricketts of Incipio Works, Jamie Swaim, SPHR of Parcel and Jason Heflin of CrowdSouth. Like their theme music? They wanted something unique to reflect their approach to solving recruiting, staffing and HR-related issues for their clients. If you're in HR and are struggling with "WFT situations", check out the Workforce Therapy Files podcast!
