Sometimes a milestone is so significant that you have to pause and marvel at progress. Research recently published in JAMA Network Open indicates that breast cancer mortality rates fell by a staggering 58% between 1975 and 2019, thanks to dramatic advances in both early detection and treatment. The data speaks for itself - early detection saves lives. That said, there is still much to do. Each year 240,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women in the U.S and complex factors have created great inequities in breast cancer mortality.
