https://lnkd.in/dYaWhTs6 Time draws original stories, precious memories always vivid. Histoire is the living memory of time. Ancient time, which sketches the delicate marks of its passing on warm, kind stone. And young time, just past but still present as the echo of strong emotions. Invisible waves running through air and living-spaces.

One of the most remarkable features of the Italian territory is the breadth and wealth of its underground treasures. Italy’s subterranean or buried life is truly unparalleled. I am not talking about speleology here (even if the Marche caves of Frasassi or the Puglia caves of Castellana are quite extraordinary), but really about entire cities, monuments, and galleries hidden under the surface. Think of archeological Pompeii and Ostia, but also Baia (submerged under the Tyrrhenian Sea). Think of the ancient stadium lying under Piazza Navona in Rome, or the baptismal font where St. Ambrose baptized St. Augustine in Milan, right below the Duomo. Think of the catacombs of St. Callistus in Rome and of the Capuchins in Palermo (real cities and cemeterial pathways), of the Neapolitan Grotta di Posillipo, and the modern galleries built under the Alps (Col di Lana, Pasubio, etc) during the First World War. Rarely do we talk about underground marvels when dealing with other countries. And yet that is an unmistakable point of conversation in the Italian case. Let me know in the comments what is your favorite underground attraction in Italy and enjoy my gallery! #italianinnovators

FASCINATING! This striking Geto-Dacian gold bracelet, over 2100 years old and showcased at the Transylvanian National History Museum, is an exquisite example of ancient craftsmanship. The bracelet's large spiral designs, adorned with zoomorphic dragon motifs, suggest it was more than mere decoration. Such pieces likely had spiritual or protective roles, possibly used in ceremonial rites by priests to connect with the divine. The intricacy and size of the bracelets imply a significant cultural and religious significance, leading some to speculate about their use by legendary figures like the Anunnaki. Could these artifacts be tangible links to the spiritual practices and celestial connections of the ancient Dacians?

The Lion of Venice was Made in China “The winged lion that stands on the column in St. Mark’s Square in Venice that is an icon of the city was made in China. A new metallurgic study of the bronze has discovered a large part of it originated from 8th century China and after making its way to Venice, was mixed with other parts and reconstructed in to fit the standard iconography of the winged lion, symbol of Mark the Evangelist and of Venice itself. Based on research done after a 1980s restoration, the statue was believed to have been made in Anatolia during the early Hellenistic era (4th century B.C.), but a study of the lead isotopes in the metal alloy found they came from mines in the lower basin of the Yangtze River in southeastern China. Armed with the hard science, researchers reexamined the lion’s design and found characteristic features of Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.) sculptures in the head, mane and chest. … The lion likely made its way west over the Silk Road through India and Afghanistan, which had a very active flow of trade during the Tang Dynasty. That flow was closed off for some centuries after, reopening at the time of Marco Polo’s voyages in the 13th century. There are no historical sources recording when the lion came to Venice, or when and how it took its current form. Marco Polo wrote about it after his return from China in 1295, but not only was it already on top of the column at that time, it was already in need of restoration so it had been up there exposed to the elements for decades.” https://lnkd.in/eFKMv7uK AND: Is the “Lion of Venice” Actually From China? https://lnkd.in/d4gkK6xv FROM our group, “Arts, Cultural Heritage and History of Ideas: Antiquity to the 18th Century” (https://lnkd.in/d66CSxM ).
