Some interesting echoes of Sir John Hegarty's MAD//FEST LONDON talk yesterday in Sir Martin Sorrell's talk today. Asked what he’d recommend to youngsters joining the industry Sir Martin said learn Chinese, Spanish and coding – not just because they’re useful skills, but because it’ll exercise your brain in a way that we don’t do enough of now. Whilst Sir Martin Sorrell also talked about trying tech fast, because it will change faster than you think, Rory Sutherland talked about what slow AI might look like. Sometimes we need to take time to do things, we need to put in the right amount of effort to achieve what we need to. Being more efficient can be easy to achieve, being more effective is often much harder. Thanks MAD//FEST – lots of great thinking to make the little grey cells fire up – now to slowly digest and think about the learnings to take forward.

Does culture trump strategy? Based on my experience over the last 2 years at poppi, I 100% say it does. We have a full house at the office this week, with many remote employees in Austin for various reasons. Watching the team's reactions as they see a familiar face enter the room reminds me that we’re doing more than just selling soda – we're building a lifestyle brand rooted in soda culture.   Soda culture has deep roots in the experience of togetherness – from road trips to sporting events to movie nights. Creating a lifestyle brand rooted in genuine experiences and shared memories is a powerful way to drive both internal morale and customer loyalty. Not only are we hyper focused on providing our consumers with the best product that we can, but we’re also building and maintaining the community and experiences that surround it. I recently saw the new #socialmedia campaign for "taking tea breaks", however, I believe there was a missed opportunity: Here is how I would have created this campaign: The camera pans through a bustling office, showing Lindsay engaged in lively conversations with colleagues, as she discusses various projects. Cut to the break room, where Lindsay stands before her colleagues, a bottle of Pure Leaf tea in hand. She begins to give her speech about taking a tea break. In the back of the room, the actor who played Damien (played by Daniel Franzese), from Mean Girls. As Lindsay delivers her speech, the camera subtly shifts focus to Daniel, capturing his expression. He stands in the back of the room and shouts "She doesn't even go work here!" Blurting out the familiar line from the movie echoing through the room. The hire manager caught off guard, turns to Lindsay with a confusing expression. Do you even work here?" the hire manager asks, echoing Damien's suspicious tone from the movie. Lindsay takes a confident sip of her Pure Leaf tea, her demeanor calm yet assertive. "I just have a lot of feelings about this tea," she quips, delivering the line with a subtle nod to the film's famous dialogue. tagline: "Pure Leaf Tea: Making 'Fetch' and Breaks Happen" "Skipping tea makes you mean; chill out with pure leaf tea instead." OR A follow-up campaign can be "spill the tea" with PureLeaf\ PepsiCo. Mean Girls is famous for its burn book, this campaign can begin on October 3rd (Mean Girl Day). Tag line: "Spill the tea, because gossip should be brewed, not burned." Have a #socialmeida campaign with people sharing their tea on TikTok or Instagram.
