IEE Case Study: A Military Weapon System Integrator requested a rugged avionics display that could provide a direct full-high definition (Full-HD) image of their modern high resolution sensors and cameras. In addition, this rotary-wing application required extreme flexibility in the operator control inputs for commanding the modes and positioning of the multiple weapon system devices and helicopter payloads. The major challenge was the requirement to present high-resolution sensor, map, and symbology legibly in the wide range of ambient light conditions found in the cockpit of a military helicopter; from direct sunlight to dark night NVIS goggle operation. Read here how IEE approached the customer's challenge. https://lnkd.in/gZm3GzXs #leddisplay

And yet another notable application of GaN emerges in the defense industry. The technology is revolutionizing the defense industry by offering significant advantages over traditional materials like gallium arsenide (GaAs) and silicon (Si). GaN-based components, such as transistors and amplifiers, provide higher power density, efficiency, and reliability. These qualities make GaN ideal for applications requiring robust performance in harsh environments, such as radar systems, electronic warfare, communications, and satellite systems. #GaN #GalliumNitride

The use of #ElectronicWarfare in #Ukraine and the #MiddleEast is having its desired military effect. In today's newsletter, we look at an unintended effect: the disruption of commercial aviation. We also look at how engineers can tackle stimulated Brillouin scattering challenges with additive white Gaussian noise during laser weapon design (thanks, Wireless Telecom Group (Boonton, Holzworth, Noisecom)), how PMICs can design and control RF GaN PA technology in various applications and help overcome hurdles in RF front-end (RFFE) design to help achieve peak performance (yay, Qorvo, Inc.!), and more.
