Imagine a world where the digital divide no longer separates communities, where every individual has connectivity at their fingertips. This vision drives MTN's efforts to extend mobile network coverage in rural Africa. Many rural areas lack telecom infrastructure, leaving more than 200 million people without mobile services. MTN Zambia, in partnership with Africa Mobile Network (AMN), brings 2G, 3G, and 4G connectivity to these areas using solar-powered, self-sustaining stations. This initiative includes providing affordable mobile phones and establishing airtime dealers and mobile money agents. The impact is profound! How can the Nigerian Communications Commission partially bar Glo lines from calling MTN lines over a so-called unpaid interconnectivity charges? Who should the NCC protect? A South African company, like MTN, that puts downward pressure on the Naira by repatriating its profits from Nigeria to South Africa, or a Nigerian company, like Globacom that helps the Naira grow by keeping its revenue and profits in Nigeria?

A free press is a vital pillar of society. In the absence of a free press the powerful are not held to account and the weak are crushed without the world knowing let alone advocating on their behalf. There are far reaching conflicts and unfolding atrocities in Sudan and Congo and many parts of the globe that are hidden due to the absence of an active free press in the area. The tragedy is that with advertising revenue being captured by the “platforms” a major means of viability for the free press around the world has been taken away and so the ability to sustain a free press in so many parts of the world has been undermined. It is critical for the health of societies that the sustaining of journalism and a free press is legislated and provided for.
Today marks one year after the fighting in #Sudan re-emerged. Almost 10 million people have had to flee their homes and there is no independent #media left in the country. News platform #Dabanga operates from the Netherlands and is the only independent source of information left for people in Sudan. "We broadcast through shortwave radio and satellite TV to Sudan, because this can’t be censored or taken off air." - Nigel Ballard, Managing Director at Dabanga. ➡️Read the interview: https://ow.ly/Nwqr50RfSor #StandWithSudan #PressFreedom

How can President Bola Tinubu tolerate this? Would President Cyril Ramaphosa allow the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa to move against a South African company in favour of a Nigerian firm under the same circumstances? Unless we take a Nigerian-first approach to our economic, diplomatic and civic policies, neither our Naira nor our national reputation will rise. I urge those around the President to intervene to stop this action, which is against the economic interest of Nigeria. If President Tinubu can intervene in the Wike-Fubara feud, then this is a more worthy scenario for his immediate intervention. Glo must be protected, projected, and promoted, as it is one Nigerian firm that positively affects our economy and national pride. Previous administrations intervened to help Nigerian conglomerates, line the Dangote Group and OandO. This administration ought to continue this positive tradition. Reno Omokri #TableShaker

Advocate for a globally competitive #AUSTRALIANFUSIONENERGYINDUSTRY with strategic communications expertise.
Best invest in Building and talking about Fusion power, space, and maritime propulsion systems and industry as data centres are. You talk about Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fail to discuss fusion. https://lnkd.in/ge_aeX7M The nuclear fission industry is ignorant of what's happening around you. Pull your uranium heads out, adjust your industry to fusion energy, and prepare to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. As it dawns on Earth like the sun. Great Headline, Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an accelerated pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and merely a temporary industry globally. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now see what is happening in the Fusion industry in the world. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fuel shortage is increasingly real,
This would be a standard of living boost in Africa.
