Mechanical Engineer 25'|University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore| Ex-Intern | xMPCL | xPAC kamra | xPaistan Railways
I recently concluded a two-week internship at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra, which provided me with an invaluable hands-on learning experience in aerospace engineering and military aviation. During my time there, I was assigned to the Mirage Rebuild Factory (MRF) and observed the overhauling processes of various fighter, military, and cargo jets, including F-16, JF-17 Thunder, C-130, Mirage, and many others. I also visited several departments, such as the engine wing, quality control wing, accessory overhaul wing. This exposure to the intricate work and precision required in aerospace deeply excited me and fueled my passion for learning more about this field. #AerospaceEngineering #InternshipExperience #Aviation# Pac Kamra

BAE Systems Graduate Challenge 2024 Winners!🛳🎉 . . . Earlier this year I had the inspiring opportunity to take part in an international BAE Systems Graduate Challenge aimed at improving the companies sustainability habits. The challenge saw teams consisting of Australian and UK graduates tackle the question: How can ferrous and non-ferrous waste materials produced in BAE Systems Shipyards be donated to educational facilities to assist in learning? The question required teams to investigate every detail of the process, including such considerations as legal, commercial, and engineering implications. While this already presented enough of a challenge - particularly for an Aerospace Engineer with no maritime experience - the added aspect of international communication and coordination applied additional difficulties. I'm very proud to say after developing a presentation of our solution, and being short-listed with two other teams, my team was able to produce a challenge winning presentation! ⭐️ This task gave me an invaluable insight into the company, and particularly the large naval subsection of it, which will only benefit me going forward. I can safely say I've made some great friends and new connections who I'd like to thank for coming on this journey too. I'm confident those alongside me in the team will go on to do some incredible things in the future! Thank you Jack G., Elise Walker, Jasmine Bezzina, and many more! #baesystemsaustralia #graduate #graduatechallenge #baesystems #royalaustraliannavy #aerospaceengineering #navy #graduateopportunities #engineeringsolutions #sustainability #engineeringsustainability

✈️ Farnborough International Airshow is soaring off. Thank you to the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer MP, for opening the Airshow today alongside our Chief Executive Kevin Craven. We appreciate the Government's renewed commitment to the UK workforce, with the announcement of Skills England as a body dedicated to securing our future workforce highly welcomed by our industry members. Dedication to apprenticeships and locally based supply & demand models is something that we have been consistently clear on: it's vital for our industries' future success. But there's more – we saw: 🏢 Reassurance to the development of an Industrial Strategy Council 🛬 Assurances made by Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds MP, to project-led allocations for the Aerospace Technology Institute 🤝 An enhanced pledge to our role in NATO All of this reflects the need to secure UK advantage in an increasingly volatile world. #aerospace #defence #security #space #aviation #FIA24 #FIA2024

As kids, we often dream of grand careers without fully understanding what they entail. For me, the dream was to become a pilot, or better yet, to join the Indian Air Force. This ambition wasn’t something I was taught; it was an innate desire that grew stronger over time. The moment that truly ignited my passion was my first flight experience and it was with IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd). The thrill, the view from above, and the sheer magic of being airborne solidified my resolution—I knew then that I wanted to be a pilot, no matter what. Despite my long-standing aversion to mathematics, I began excelling in both physics and math, knowing they were crucial stepping stones toward my goal. However, when the time came to apply for pilot training programs, I was faced with a harsh reality. Even for government training, the cost was around ₹30-35 lakhs—a sum far beyond what I could afford. Determined not to let this obstacle stop me, I shifted my focus to the National Defense Academy (NDA) as a pathway to the Indian Air Force. I dedicated a year to intense preparation, even joining the cadet corps. But as I pushed myself physically, my weight frame began to struggle under the demands of the training. Each session left me more demotivated, and gradually, the fire that once fueled my ambition began to fade. This marked the beginning of my journey through the ups and downs of career planning as a teenager—a journey I will continue to share in my next post.

Nicola Grady-Smith spoke at McKinsey & Company on the subject of Transformation & Strategy in Aerospace She explained her career journey, & shared learning of the critical need for a strong team & strategic choices. Here’s a glimpse into Rolls-Royce strategic direction and the importance of cross-functional alignment: Strategic Choices and Alignment • Capital Markets Day 2023: Set a clear strategic direction. • This was developed with a Cross-Functional Collaboration: Aligning 200 people for data-driven decisions & benchmarking. Key Questions in developing a strategy : 1. What are our markets, scale, and size? 2. Are we differentiated? 3. Can we generate attractive returns? This led to the 4 strategic goals: 1/ A high performing company – improving our operating profit 2/ A competitive company – with a competitive operating margin 3/ A resilient company – through our return on capital 4/ A growing company – by growing sustainable free cash flow Focus Areas for enabling this Strategic Framework: • Portfolio choices and partnerships: We’re bringing razor-sharp focus to grow those areas where we have strategic advantage due to our strong market position and differentiated, distinctive offering. • Advantaged businesses and strategic initiatives: We will continue to deepen our competitive advantage with key initiatives in each: widebody, business aviation, combat and transport, mobile, and stationary power systems. • Efficiency and simplification: We’re creating sustainable cost efficiency. We will do this through a simpler organisation, Group-wide procurement excellence, and rigorous planning and budgeting to embed more cost control across the Group. • Lower carbon and digitally enabled businesses- Digital and Sustainability: We’re embracing the energy transition for ourselves and our customers. We will participate in growing markets where we have the capability to win. We’re already contributing to a low-carbon world. Emphasising carbon & low-carbon pathways. Sustainability Challenges • Integrating long-term policy investments. • Collaborating with the industry and government to decarbonise aviation. Partnerships and Investment • Adopting new collaboration methods. • Partnering with suppliers and government to overcome supply chain bottlenecks. Rolls Royce’s Bold Vision • Setting mid-term targets & driving pace with clear accountability. • Celebrating extraordinary achievements driven by bold targets & dedicated ownership. Organisational Strategy • Identifying clear business drivers & management information needs. • Balancing transformation initiatives with ongoing business operations. Human Elements in Transformation • Maintaining transparency & fostering conditions for excellence. • Upholding safety, ethics, & compliance as core values. Aerospace & Defence Insights: • Recognising the importance of human endeavour & engineering excellence. • Leveraging the dedication & expertise of our people. #EnergyTransition #Transformation
