SD Represented at the NJ State-of-the-State Manufacturing Summit
Joe Dotzman, VP of Manufacturing and Site Services, and Claudine D’Angelo, Marketing & Communication Specialist, recently attended the State-of-the-Sate Manufacturing Summit at the NJ Statehouse in Trenton.
The event, sponsored jointly by NJBIA (NJ Business & Industry Association) and NJMEP (NJ Manufacturing Extension Program) brought together NJ manufacturing industry leaders, state legislators, and business executives to discuss the industry’s most critical issues. In addition to networking with business leaders and legislators, attendees were brought up to date on business concerns, trends, and initiatives that impact manufacturing across the organization. Discussions about sustainability initiatives and government support for manufacturers to execute these projects featured prominently.
D'Angelo noted, “It is important for SD to be a part of the solution and work with other manufacturers and legislators to achieve Triple Bottom Line Goals (People, Planet, and Profit) that would be difficult to accomplish as individual companies.”
“Meeting with state leaders through this event was a valuable experience”, said Dotzman, “It enabled us to talk about SD and SABIC and our importance to the NJ economy. We engaged on topics such as the negative impact of proposed higher state business taxes, and the need for training programs to develop a strong pool of skilled labor for New Jersey manufacturers. These and other current issues that were discussed are all important to SD. It was great to make connections with key officials.”
