There are over 300 million people infected with HBV and HCV, and over 1 million die every year because of these infections. Together we can reach the target of eradicating viral hepatitis by 2030! If you ask that that “Does political will matter in hepatitis Elimination?” The answer always will be. YES Yes, political will is a critical factor in the elimination of hepatitis. Without strong political commitment, it is challenging to mobilize resources, implement effective policies, and drive public awareness campaigns necessary to combat the disease effectively. Political will influences funding allocations, healthcare infrastructure development, and the prioritization of hepatitis on national and global health agendas. Therefore, addressing political will issues is essential to advancing efforts towards hepatitis elimination Danjuma K. 💊I had the pleasure of joining the panel discussion by the Forum for Africa Medical Students Association's webinar to discuss the socio-economic determinants of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). 🌟 This critical global health threat took center stage at the recent 77th World Health Assembly. 🏥🌐 The harsh reality is that low- and middle-income countries in Africa and Asia are projected to bear 90% of the 10 million annual deaths expected by 2050 due to AMR. 😔📊 Engaging with the brilliant young minds in the medical profession was truly inspiring. "The face behind every AMR-related death is a face of a child, a woman, or a man, suffering and dying from sepsis." — Dr. Mariam Jashi, CEO of the Global Sepsis Alliance Mariam Jashi had the honor of speaking at the United Nations multi-stakeholder hearing in preparation for the High-Level Meeting on #AMR. She used the opportunity to highlight the urgent need for synergies between AMR and #sepsis, and the strengthened role of #parliamentarians. With almost 5 million AMR-related deaths contributing to 13.7 million sepsis deaths annually, it is essential to integrate AMR into broader global health agendas. We must prioritize funding, engage parliamentarians, and leverage innovative financing to build resilient health systems and achieve universal health coverage. According to the World Health Organization, Hepatitis B is a major health concern in Asia, with an estimated 21 million people infected in the Western Pacific region alone. While Hepatitis C is less common, it still affects around 4.4 million people in the same region. At Andaman Medical, we are committed to addressing this pressing health issue.
