For anyone on the path to securing a training contract or pupillage, I want to share this reminder: don’t give up. - Admittedly, I was close to giving up shortly before securing a training contract. The legal profession is incredibly competitive, and the road to qualifying as a solicitor or barrister can feel long and overwhelming. But from my experience, perseverance makes all the difference. 💡 Resilience is Key: Rejections and setbacks are part of the process. Each “no” is not a reflection of your potential, but an opportunity to refine your approach. Stay focused on your goal, and never let temporary setbacks define your journey. 📚 Keep Learning & Growing: The legal landscape is always evolving. Continue building your knowledge, sharpening your skills, and expanding your network. Every experience, no matter how small, is a stepping stone. 🤝 Seek Support: Don’t be afraid to lean on mentors, peers, and colleagues for guidance. Sharing experiences and advice can open doors to new opportunities and provide much-needed encouragement. Remember, the right opportunity may take time, but your persistence will pay off. Stay determined, keep pushing forward, and trust that your hard work will lead you to the career you’re striving for. #LegalJourney #TrainingContract #Pupillage #NeverGiveUp #Resilience #LegalCareers

Trainee Solicitor Guiding Aspiring Solicitors 👩💼 | Awarded the Thomson Reuters Company Law Prize 2022, the David Baxter Award 2021, and Combar Award 2020 | LLB (Hons) with First Class | LLM LPC with Distinction
Paralegal to trainee solicitor? BEWARE of the dangling carrot. As a paralegal, I was promised a training contract, and did not get one. Firms will say; 1. “Paralegal role with a view to a training contract” 2. “After 12 months with the firm, we will consider candidates for a training contract” 3. “We recruit our trainees internally” 4. “A training contract will be available for the right candidate” 5. “A training contract may be given, subject to the candidate’s performance” Whether or not these statements are true, they don’t guarantee a training contract. They aim to entice you to apply. Paralegal positions will absolutely help get your foot in the door. Take the position to advance your skills, not because a training contract is a possibility. You may be left disappointed.

Future Lawyers ❤️💼 After Obtaining Your LL.B or On your Final Year Apply For Pupillage 👇(Only For Those Who Want To Admitted As An Advocate) ☺️❤️ Do Your Pupillage If You Want To Be Admitted As An Advocate.✔️✔️✔️ Pupillage is a 12-month training period for those aiming to qualify as barristers, usually spent in a barristers' chambers (aka 'set'). It is divided into two distinct six-month periods. During the 'first six' you will shadow the cases of an experienced barrister; in the 'second six' you may take on work of your own. Pupillage is a training program for those who want to become advocates. Advocates are also legal professionals, but they specialize in representing clients in court. There is no remuneration for pupils. Pupils must be in chambers and with their mentors all and every work day. During pupillage, pupils are entitled and encouraged to appear in court with their mentors and other members of the bar approved by each pupil's mentor. Another wonderful 5-star review from one of my clients 🌟 It’s always rewarding to settle a client’s case but as an apprentice, it’s even more rewarding to be settling cases only 1.5 years into my legal career 👩🏾⚖️ #clientcare #apprentice #paralegalapprentice

The divide between being a paralegal and a trainee solicitor is becoming obsolete. Why? ✅Work experience gained as a paralegal can count as QWE under the SQE route. You can qualify as a solicitor without having ever been a trainee. ✅The title 'Trainee Solicitor' is no longer reserved exclusively for those undertaking a training contract. Candidates gaining QWE can also use the title if their employer agrees. ✅Therefore, a paralegal and a trainee solicitor could be doing exactly the same work but have different job titles solely due to employer preference. What's your opinion on the distinction between being a paralegal and a trainee solicitor? Can assumptions be made as to the quality of somebody's experience based on their job title?
