It's a celebration of diverse voices and a commitment to collective progress. However, democracy is not synonymous with dominance. It does not seek to impose one nation's will upon another, nor does it thrive on the subjugation of differing ideologies. As a global community, we have witnessed countless events, each a potential lesson in governance, empathy, and unity. Yet, it seems we have scarcely grasped the depth of these teachings. It is time for reflection, for nations to look beyond their borders and see the shared humanity that binds us all. Let us embrace the true spirit of democracy—where every voice is heard, every culture respected, and every nation is an equal partner in the quest for a better world. Together, we can learn, grow, and build a future that honors the very principles of freedom and equality that democracy promises. It’s a somber day for our nation. I’ve only learned or watched archive news footages of presidential assassinations and/or attempts of the past. But the recent attempt on a presidential candidate is a reminder of our nation’s fragility. We may disagree on policy issues and solutions, but we must recommit to active listening, finding common ground and compromise, and building consensus. Because a functioning democracy isn’t just about voting and representation. It is a bedrock of innovation, ideas, and industrial success. Each of us must do our part because our future depends on it.

Democracy is DEAD! In recent years, the very essence of democracy, once hailed as the pinnacle of governance, has come under threat. From the erosion of democratic norms to the rise of authoritarian tendencies, the global landscape presents a stark picture: democracy is dead, or at the very least, on life support. Key indicators that reflect the death of Democracy are: 1. Decline in Democratic Freedoms 2. Erosion of Democratic Norms 3. Rising Populism and Nationalism 4. Democratic Backsliding 5. Challenges to Electoral Integrity The factors contributing to its demise are multifaceted and complex, requiring a concerted effort from global leaders, civil society, and ordinary citizens to reverse the tide. Failure to address these challenges not only threatens the future of democracy but also jeopardizes the fundamental rights and freedoms that form the cornerstone of a just and equitable society. As such, the time to act is now, lest we consign democracy to the annals of history.
