Best Job I’ve ever had was at FMC now known as TECHNIPFMC. My favorite place I’ve worked was ExxonMobil. It was contract but it was still fire!!! There were plenty of growth opportunities at FMC, they trained you well to make sure you were properly prepared to do the job, and I met some of the most awesome people that some I still talk to today. To be honest I thought I’d retire from there but God had other plans. Exxon probably would have taken first place in my heart, but I fell out of love with how the contract situation was being handled. I ventured on elsewhere and I’ve been venturing on ever since. I share this to say if you’re thinking about leaving you’re current situation outweigh all the pros and cons heavily! I know some situations run its course and there’s nothing to do to repair the partnership, but if it isn’t completely broken don’t try to fix it. Ride out the peaks and valleys. Find that thing that made it easy for you to get up and fight traffic for that opportunity once again. It’s hard finding places that honor partnerships, doesn’t hide financial hardships from their employees, or just outright value your presence. At the end of the day peace is everything. I also understand that you can’t be afraid to take chances in the name of growth, but if something has been good to you hold on to it just a bit longer. Besides….. I don’t think hiring managers like seeing a ton of job switches in such a short period of time even if the story does add up 🤷🏽♂️. As always, Stay blessed out here y’all!

The last week we had the opportunity to conduct several workshops in Mexico as part of the global project "Re-Energize Our Culture", seeking to focus on Field Services Team located on site of some of our customers such as Tultitlan, Apizaco, Puebla, Orizaba and Veracruz. They were days of hard work that made me realize the day to day of this great team and let me tell you it is not as simple as it seems or is it as we sometimes think. I take with me the great satisfaction as well as learning from these great talents, that without their presence would not be part of what is now RHI Magnesita in Mexico. This type of approach helps to build stronger and more trusting working relationships and have the openness to listen to different ideas. We will be working closely with the Mexico team to make possible all the feedback received and implement improvements that will generate great results, as one of our responsibilities as Culture Champions: to enforce our values as a company. Many thanks to the entire team for their great support, as well as for their honesty and warmth to make me feel part of the department but especially Jessica Lopez, Angel de Jesus Olmos, and Carlos Alejandro Puente for the time, organization and sacrifice to make this project possible. I was the lead on a project to get a mine site operationally ready. I was brought in at a late stage because things were not on track. I knew I had to lift a deflated team and unlock all of their potential if we were going to meet the ‘Go-Live’ dates. We met with all the key stakeholders to understand what ‘good’ looks like. We then worked to create our purpose story… “Once upon a time, there was a team working together to start a new mine called Gudai-Darri. Every day they worked passionately to set the mine up for success. One day they decided that they wanted to create a culture that was caring, connected, and trusted. Because of that, they knew their employees experience was critical. Because of that they focused on supporting and caring from their employees as they made their journey to site and in the early moments at Gudai-Darri. Until finally they were a successful mine site with a reputation for getting results and being a great place to live and work”. I read this out at every opportunity… when we met as a team, when we presented progress to stakeholders. It generated a lot of momentum. And it certainly took us from good to great. Stakeholders actually got emotional when I would tell the story. Team members told me it was the best team they had ever worked in. And we were not saving the world! In the hard cold light, we were logistically mobilising employees from one location to another. But we did it with purpose and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my career.
