It was great to be in person for #ASCO2024 and present our work funded by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We highlighted the substantial financial burden for working-aged adults after a cancer diagnosis. Did you know that the median out-of-pocket costs for PRIVATELY INSURED individuals is more than $500 per month in the six months after diagnosis, with the burden highest for those with lymphoma (spending almost $4,000 over that time)? Also, 4.6% of people experienced out-of-pocket costs >$9,000 in the six months after diagnosis! Thanks to my wonderful group of collaborators Robin Yabroff, Jingxuan Zhao, Cathy Bradley, Marcelo Perraillon, Sam Greenwood, and Roxanne Clark for helping to highlight this growing #financialburden and opportunities for #healthpolicy to address it. #umnproud University of Minnesota School of Public Health

Breakthrough in Pediatric Lymphoma Detection! Challenge: Accurately tracking subtle changes in PET scans for pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma patients during treatment is difficult. Solution: Xin Tie et al. (2023) developed LAS-Net, an innovative AI network that analyzes both baseline and follow-up PET scans to detect residual disease more effectively. Results: Outperforms traditional methods in detecting residual lymphoma. Strong correlation with physician measurements of key PET metrics like MTV and TLG.
