I’m lucky to be with folks thinking beyond 1:1 chat bots and catching students cheating. The solutions we are gravitating towards consider helping people solve real problems around engagement, loneliness, and finding time for our passions because the rote tasks are taken care of. About EDSAFE: Founded in 2020, the EDSAFE AI Alliance is a global initiative led by InnovateEDU and powered by a coalition of organizations representing stakeholders across the education sector to provide global leadership for developing a safer, more secure, more equitable, and more trusted AI education ecosystem through a focus on research, policy, and practice.

Loving all of Lu Gerlach's newest posts. This one is very cool and answers a question I often hear in schools: What does action really look like? This would be a very cool tool to take into a session with students or teachers. Some questions you might ask alongside this taxonomy: Intra-Connection: - Who is in our classroom community? -How might we develop empathy and opportunities for students to connect with one another? -What might action look like within our classroom? Inter-Connection -What other units are happening in the school that we might connect to? -What potential school-wide issues or opportunities might we connect to? -What might action look like in single-subject classes (arts, PE, etc.)? -Are other local schools engaging in similar inquiries or action-driven projects? Managed Global: -What other organizations or businesses work towards the goals we have set for our unit? -How can we ground the learning experience in authentic problem solving in our local and global community? -Who are experts in this field? What does their action look like? Student to Student (teacher managed) -How might I use social media or other tools to connect with like-minded educators/others who are teaching similar concepts? -How else might I learn more about what other schools around the world are working on or share our inquiry with other educators? Student to Student (student-managed) -How can I support the development of students' social skills? -What platforms are available for students to use safely?

Starling7B is AI learning from AI—a huge leap forward in AI’s trajectory. We have a model—already an outstanding performer—basically giving us the first example of this happening. With Microsoft’s Phi, we’ve already seen that you can train models on text *generated* by AI with good results—if you pay attention to quality and curation. Starling 7B shows that you can now use something even better: pairs of instruction and behavioral outputs produced by other AI models. Remember RLHF? Yeah, this is RLRF—Reinforcement Learning from Robot Feedback. This synthetic reinforcement learning approach strongly aligns intent and performance and paves the way for AI being able to train better and better models of itself—by itself.
