🌊⚓Happy International Seafarers Day!⚓🌊 This year, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) campaign highlights seafarers’ contribution to making the maritime sector a safer workplace. We take this opportunity to appreciate the hard work and dedication of all our seafarers. Every day, they meet the challenging conditions at sea to ensure that essential goods and necessities reach customers on land all over the world, while maintaining safety and a secure workplace. Their efforts are truly invaluable. To further promote safety, MOL Chemical Tankers is advancing numerous actions both at sea and ashore. Our ‘Safety Enhancement Campaign’ every June and regular crew seminars across countries are integral components of our efforts. With our philosophy, “Where there is safety, there is prosperity”, we will continuously work to achieve the highest possible level of safety. Together with our seafarers, we strive for a safer future in the maritime industry. #MOLChemicalTankers #InternationalSeafarersDay #MaritimeSafety #SafetyTipsAtSea

Thats a great quote from General Secretary Arsenio Dominguez. Unfortunately as I have see recently designers, builders and company's don't agree. If they did seafarers would be involved in the initial risk assessment and concept design stage. The majority of the time seafarers get a bit of time before having a ship handed over to them but this is only for familarisation. There's no chance to make any changes for the safety issues that are now built into the vessel. If they are very lucky seafarers might get to make comments on some of the layout drawings, even then the design concept is done and major changes are not possible. As we move to fuels such as Ammonia which are novel from the point of being a fuel have been carried onboard ships for decades. There's a wealth of seafarer expereince about what a safe and operable system design is and what is dangereous and difficult to operate and maintain. Yet that expereince is being either ignored or under utilised. This will result in systems which at best increase complexity and crew workload and at worse add in risks that didn't need to be there and lack the required safety systems to mitigate them. Designers and shipyards involvement lasts only a few years and stops after a vessel is handed over. For seafarers our involvement lasts 20-35 years. While ease of design and build are important considerations, they must not override crew safety, ease of operation and ease of maintenance. This is something I want to see change in our industry. #nautilusint #MarineEngineering #Seafarers
As the campaign draws to a close, we want to reiterate our appreciation for seafarers' contributions to a safety culture in the maritime industry. Your commitment to safety and excellence is greatly appreciated and makes a significant impact on our industry. #SafetyTipsAtSea Happy International #DayoftheSeafarer

September 26th marks IMO’s World Maritime Day. To honor this year’s theme, Navigating the future: safety first, we at International Seaways would like to highlight how we as a company work to make the maritime sector a safer industry. To keep safety always at our top of mind, we begin our meetings with safety moments, examples of safety lessons from our everyday lives . Our office guests participate in Safety Moments at the start of their visits as well. We also hold joint Monthly Safety Workshops with our two technical managers, which encourages transparency around safety concerns, to identify solutions and practices. On an industry level, we are active members of Together in Safety, a consortium committed to improving safety across the maritime industry. We are currently working to develop a standardized approach to evaluate new-fuel readiness, accounting for crew training, and safety concerns. Safety is a core principle at International Seaways. We are proud that 2023 was a year without any serious incidents, a statistic featured alongside many other achievements in our recent Sustainability Report (linked below). ⛑️Lubmarine supporting IMO's #WorldMaritimeDay Putting Safety First We place safety at the heart of every aspect of our operations which is why we are delighted to see that this year’s International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) World Maritime Day theme is: Navigating the Future: Safety First. The shipping industry’s global decarbonization journey is seeing fundamental changes right across the industry – new ships, new engines and new fuels are becoming a catalyst for transforming many of the day-to-day operations. With so much change taking place, putting the spotlight on safety is a welcome reminder about the importance of protecting the health and well-being of the many thousands of people who work in the global maritime industry – whether at sea or on land. Our own approach to safety was recently highlighted by Lubmarine HSE Manager Zainuddin Osman in the following piece 👉https://bit.ly/4esJYZm in which he underlined the importance of safety among our different activities.
