Autonomous Networks journey is still very far from being completed. Large Telecoms I worked with started some time ago but the complexity and the investments needed to go full-programmable-network and automation/orchestration translated in many roadblocks, abandoned projects and only a few real success. But is not only about technology hurdles, actually were even more important have been the organizational, political, and mindset aspects. I saw more successful initiatives in medium size telecoms, where they had less business issues, thanks to strong top-down decisioning, and less infrastructure (legacy networks) obstacles.
