What a thoughtful post about health information overload, Faye Ng! Well done. I’d like to add to the conversation by emphasizing the importance of incorporating digital health modules into medical curricula. This would greatly benefit not only medical students but also current health workers. Additionally, fostering a culture of mentorship and community support is essential. These networks can provide the necessary guidance and shared experiences to help healthcare professionals manage the barrage of information effectively. This dual approach can equip our healthcare workforce with both the tools and the support system needed to navigate this challenge.

🙋♂️❓ CRANAplus Q&A: “I have been asked if I am competent at triage. Is a certificate all I need?” Triage requirements vary significantly across different healthcare settings, encompassing distinctions between state services, health districts, and individual practices. Notably, there is no universal set of ‘national triage requirements’, and each institution may have its own standards. Want to know more? Shannan Lewis, Clinical Education Manager, CRANAplus provides a detailed response at https://lnkd.in/gpj3_XYr Do you have a burning question you’d like answered by an experienced RAN or remote health expert? Comment it below. Selected questions will be featured in an upcoming edition of CRANA Magazine.

President at Berger Consulting, LLC, I help health care professionals help patients manage chronic illness (motivational interviewing) and build authentic relationships, 𝐊𝐄𝐘𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐑
Some day when healthcare is reinvented, the way we talk with patients will need to also change dramatically. It is not enough to talk about being patient centered or even be an advocate. It takes a different skill set (and mindset) to really engage patients and create relationships in which patients view information and education as an extension of those caring relationships, not a replacement, nor as a way to put patients in their place. Health care professionals need to see their relationship with patients as a meeting of experts AND they must be trained with evidence-based approaches like MI (motivational interviewing) to explore, honor and value the patient's expertise (sense making).

✳ ✳ Ask these 3 questions to your healthcare professional 1. ✅ What is my main problem? 2. ✅ What do I need to do? 3. ✅ Why is it important for me to do this? The Ask Me 3 program is designed to promote patient and family engagement by encouraging them to ask their healthcare providers three specific questions. This initiative aims to enhance comprehension of health conditions and clarify the necessary steps individuals must take to maintain their well-being. Healthcare professionals should: ⛔ Watch for red flags, such as incomplete forms or difficulty explaining medications, indicating potential low health literacy. ❇ Tailor clear communication strategies for all patients, regardless of their health literacy skills. ❇ Prioritize understanding by ✳ slowing down, ✳ repeating key information, and focusing on essential points. ❇ Eliminate medical jargon and employ simple terms ,like saying "heart" instead of "Cardiac" ❇ Using illustrations like pictures and graphs to enhance comprehension. ❇ Opt for easy-to-read written materials, break information into digestible sections, and encourage patient interaction throughout visits. ❇ Implement ✳ "teach-back" to confirm comprehension and begin a new explanation of the topic if the patient cannot explain what they have been told. Utilizing these effective strategies enhances the ability to make shared decisions and develop a more impactful treatment plan. After all, even the most well-designed treatment plan is rendered ineffective if the patient does not follow through. Go through the attached document for a detailed explanation. Have a great week ahead! 🤓 #patientsafety #shareddecisionmaking #patientexperience #healthandwellbeing #painmanagement #pain

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 I'm thrilled to announce the publication of my latest journal article, co-authored with Dr. Ceri Sims: "The experience of self-compassion training among NHS healthcare professionals." Our study investigates the experiences of NHS healthcare professionals who participated in a short self-compassion training and practised it over four weeks. We identified key themes from their experiences: - Motivation: Understanding the benefits sparked a desire to practise and share self-compassion. - Permission: Embracing common humanity reduces negative self-talk in the workplace. - Prioritisation: Despite busy workloads, prioritising self-compassion is essential for HCPs. Our findings highlight the transformative potential of self-compassion in healthcare settings. I invite you to read the full article and share your thoughts! https://lnkd.in/ejvJg-AA #SelfCompassion #Healthcare #Research #NHS #Wellbeing
