During Disability Pride Month in July, we recognized that disabilities aren't always physical or visible. As you may be aware, April is Financial Capabilities Month. Financial empowerment of people with disabilities is a priority for ODEP, so one of the things they are prioritizing this month is trying to disseminate resources directly to the disability community rather than their usual communication channels. A resource they want families and people with disabilities to be aware of is the “Secure Your Financial Future: A Toolkit for People with Disabilities.” The toolkit is built to empower people with disabilities and others to make employment-related decisions based on their financial situation or goals. The comprehensive Toolkit provides critical financial literacy resources and is designed to be used by anyone, regardless of where they are in the work/life cycle. ODEP is developing a new FAQ for the toolkit that addresses how people with disabilities can work while still keeping their disability benefits. If you would like this tool kit, please message me with your contact information. If you represent an organization, please share a bit about how you plan to utilize / to whom you will disseminate the toolkit.
