Join Tourism Cares on April 18th at 12pm EDT for a free webinar on the topic of marketing your destination's sustainable practices. Destinations are now at a critical juncture where sustainable tourism practices are not just desirable to travelers, but are imperative to ensuring their local communities thrive – today and into the future. By infusing values-based tourism into your marketing initiatives, DMOs can approach sustainability holistically and tell their destination’s story in a responsible, authentic, and equitable way. Moderated by Bryan Kinkade, VP & Publisher of AFAR, a panel of destination marketing experts representing Tourism Authority of Thailand, Visit Detroit, Visit Svalbard and PROMTUR PANAMA will offer their expertise on this topic. I am excited to announce the launch of my new small business: Tonys Tropical Tours on Maui LLC, (www.tonysmaui.com ) a small company providing private historical tours of Maui. Its mission is to enrich peoples’ island-time by exploring the wide variety of people, cultures, and events which comprise Maui’s varied and fascinating history. The idea for this venture was born out of my desire to continue teaching history in order to help people understand our world and live richer and more meaningful lives. I would be grateful for your tangible help in giving the business a good strong push down the runway. How? Well, according to my Search Engine Optimization expert, spending ten minutes of your time doing some or all of the following would really help give Tonys Tropical Tours on Maui a presence on the internet: 1. Go to www.tonysmaui.com and look around. Click on all the links on the pages and spend a few minutes of time with the website open. a. (Note: there is an Australian company named Tony‘s Tropical Tours (https://lnkd.in/gg-MYj4Y) that gives tours in the Australian Outback- that is not my company.) 2. Search in your browser for word combinations such as “history tour Maui”, “Historical private tour Maui” “Maui, Tony, tropical tour", “driving tour Maui” or other combinations. Then, then scroll down the list of results you get (maybe a good distance) until you find www.tonysmaui.com and click on that link to open the page. Click around a bit again and interact. I am told this is very helpful! 3. Go to https://lnkd.in/g7HD3B2F and click around. The FB page is not robust yet, but your “likes” posts, and visits will make it findable. Link it to your FB page, in particular FOLLOW THE PAGE, and share the URL with your friends (We all know the drill here!). 4. Post and share the link www.tonysmaui.com anywhere and everywhere you’d like! Your FB page, Linked-In, X, Instagram, etc., your social organizations, college or high school alumni groups, professional organizations, wherever you can. Send it to travel agents, or anyone you know who lives in Hawaii. Thanks! 5. And please tell everyone you know who is traveling to Maui to check out the website- (and book a tour!). Thanks in advance for your help with this. It takes a village to make such an endeavor successful, and I am excited. But most of all, I want to express my gratitude to be able to do this. My family is supportive, and lots of people tell me this is a good business idea, so we will see. I am grateful to be connected to you and appreciate LinkedIn and other platforms that make this possible. Thanks everyone! Cue Card Topic: Describe a memorable journey you have taken. You should say: Where you went When you went on the journey Who you went with What you did during the journey And explain why the journey was memorable to you. Follow-up Questions: Do you prefer to travel alone or with others? Why? How do you think traveling to different places can broaden our horizons? What are the benefits of traveling by public transport compared to private transport? In your opinion, what are the drawbacks of long journeys? What do you think the future of travel will be like? 📖 Books were my gateway to countless lives, weaving a tapestry of empathy within me. Yet, encountering opposing views in real life feels like staring at a single thread, confused by the whole design. Is it a lack of literary journeys that fuels narrow perspectives? I listen, but the disconnect stings – why don't more explore these enriching narratives? Imagine a world where everyone experienced 5 different realities through books: a warrior's courage, a chef's passion, a scientist's curiosity... ✨ Reading isn't just schoolwork, it's a mental gym that flexes your: • Imagination: Dragons, time travel, anything's possible! • Empathy: Walk in others' shoes, understand their struggles. • Confidence: Knowledge empowers, stories strengthen our voice. • Stress: Escape into captivating worlds, leave worries behind. • Mind: Think critically, analyze, remember like a bookworm detective! Yet, people read less and less. Let's rewrite the narrative: • Grab a book! Fiction, non-fiction, anything that sparks your curiosity. • Venture beyond your comfort zone: Explore different genres, cultures, authors. • Share your love of reading! Inspire others to unlock their potential. Let's hit the reset button and make reading mainstream. Together, we can create a more understanding world, one page at a time. What are you reading right now?
