Last night’s recognition by PRWeek US, naming Edelman as the Agency Dynasty of the Past 25 Years, is a reflection of our collective effort and vision. My favorite class at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University was Advertising 208 (The Big Idea in Advertising).   I still have the textbooks on our bookshelf (10 moves later). The curriculum was all about how challenger brands were catapulted by the Madison Mavericks – Ogilvy, Grey, Wells, Thompson, Doyle. My dream job was to work Ogilvy; I have interviewed there more than 12 times during my career... instead I became a journalist and the went to work Grey Group.   Ogilvy was “my agency partner” when I was at American Express.  Smart people. Remarkable work. Solid Moral Compass. This week, my dream came true. I am a Global Client Leader for WPP Ogilvy on Verizon. We had a great time attending the Global Insight Conferences internal comms event with three Apprentice Nation members who truly brought the youth voice to the table: Tyrese Walters, Joanna Onilude, and Pramesh Totaram. You are all inspirational! 🌟 Thank you for sharing your career stories and helping employers to understand how to engage and retain the next generation of leaders. Top 3 Takeaways: 1. Engage Your Employees: A top-notch presentation from Air France showcased the incredible work they’re doing in this area. ✈️👏 Shoutout to Ilaria Galfredi CMgr & Alf Rodway 2. Use AI as a Human ‘Co’ Not a Replacement: Jessica Tompkinson shared valuable insights on how Unilever uses AI in their communications as a supportive tool, rather than a replacement. 🤖🤝 3. Successful Stories Acknowledge Challenges: Catherine Anderson from Media Zoo delivered a thought-provoking presentation on storytelling for change, emphasizing that successful stories acknowledge challenges and that internal ambassadors drive engagement. 📚💪 It was also great catching up with Alice Taylor, Marsha Gray, Jennie Cox, Jasmine Rose Chartered MCIPD, Jeni Saint. 😊👋

Honoured to receive the PRWeek UK 30 under 30 Newcomers Award. Massive thank you to Chris Grummett for nominating me and to PRWeek UK for recognising my accomplishments.   I’ve had the chance to work with v special people who give me advice, challenge and encourage me in equal measure. Thanks to them, I know what liking a job can feel like. And that's a real privilege.   Through my work at the CBI (Confederation of British Industry), I’ve helped effect Government policy change to benefit working parents, advised CEOs + DGs and built meaningful relationships along the way.   But I’m not oblivious to the pitfalls of working in high-pressure situations. No matter what your job is, high stress can have a detrimental impact on how you feel about your career, how you feel about yourself. And job unhappiness seems to crop up everywhere you look. The antidote? Starts with unlocking the powerful combo of finding a sense of purpose in your work, and properly looking after your wellbeing.   The latter we’ll hear a lot about this #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, but it’s something that matters every day. Both elements are important to feeling fulfilled at work and beyond. Employers can play a big part in helping people hack that.   Always keen to talk PR, policy, health and happiness at work – DMs open.

This way for Better PR It’s B Corp Month, and here at PRN we're taking a moment to look back on how far we've come in our journey towards becoming a better and more sustainable business. Getting our B Corp certification wasn't just about getting a badge. It was about showing the world that we're serious about being the best PR agency we can be, not just in terms of our work, but also in terms of our values and our impact on the world. Our partnership with Furthr | B Corp™ has been a total game-changer. They've helped us put sustainable practices in place and get involved in projects that make a real difference. This journey to do good and be better has taken a lot of time and effort across the team, but it's also been really rewarding. We've learned so much - from the many ways our business can impact the economic and social well-being of the communities in which we operate, to how to both measure and understand our own environmental impact. We’ve made a lot of progress, and we're not stopping there. By the end of 2024, we're aiming to hit a B Impact Score of 100. That's a pretty ambitious goal, especially with B Corp updating its standards and tools for measuring impact this year, but we're up for the challenge. So let's celebrate B Corp Month together. Let's take some time to reflect on our impact, learn from each other, and set some bold goals for the future. Together, we can make a real difference in the world. It was a challenge, you lost a lot of sleep but eventually you saved the day. kudos!💪 🥂To our siblings, the media, for the role you play in our business of shaping narratives. Thank you! 💜 🥂To our cousins, marketing, people often get us mixed up but thank you for always complimenting what we do. 👏 🥂To that photographer we have to hound for images post event 🙈. Thank you for being patient with us, you play a key role in our storytelling efforts. 🥂To our professional bodies, you hold us accountable to the ethics of this profession and constantly provide us with opportunities for continuous learning. I find that as Comms professionals we wear so many hats but some way somehow we wouldn't have it any other way. As I usually do I like to share personal stories and how those experiences have impacted me throughout my career. I believe Presence and Engagement within the given industry we are connected to provides great power and influence to how we develop our skills and gain knowledge and just as important (maybe more importantly) - how we contribute of our expertise, insights and perspectives and from those we gain value which is leveraged to benefit our own business, and relationships. The barrier to engagement...most often it's time, second is a monetary consideration. But when one considers engagement as an investment in themselves and their business suddenly perspectives are reconsidered on what they will gain from those experiences. But it takes commitment and effort...there is no magic trick to share.
