Today marks 10 months since we launched Inversity. A few reflections from what has been an incredible ride as a self-funded 'bootstrapped' start-up: 1. Critical feedback has been... critical! It's one thing to ask for feedback or send surveys (both modestly useful), it's another to actively make business design choices which continuously surface critical feedback. Charging for Inversity licences from month two was uncomfortable (especially for two founders who'd been in the public sector all their careers!), but meant that people told us exactly what they would and wouldn't pay for. This has shaped the product into what it is today, and ultimately meant we've been able to start paying ourselves a modest salary from our revenue without needing investment - a huge personal milestone. We're enormously grateful to all those teachers and learners who have been so generous with their feedback to get us here, and for their continued support. In fact talking of business decisions designed to elicit quality feedback - our next challenge (poster below) invites learners to takeover the platform and build our next features! 2. Twists in the road. The core customer we are aiming at and the core features of our offering have both changed dramatically as a result of feedback, but the core problem we're tackling hasn't. As a founder you have to hold these two, sometimes conflicting, ideals in your head: maniacal conviction in the challenge you're tackling, but light-footed agility to adapt to serve the needs of the market. 3. Sacrifices You can't have it all, no matter what Mark Wahlberg tells you his schedule is. I've had to compromise my exercise routine, seen friends less than I would have liked, and moved my young family in with my parents for nearly a year now (huge shout out to my wife for her support and my parents for the lodgings!). But that allowed me focus 100% on the start-up and still keep evenings and weekends with my wife & son largely sacred. We've got some very exciting news to come in the next week or two, and a bag load of new features coming out over summer. But for now - for all those who've worked with us this year, mentored us, declined our offering but given us feedback, and for the learners who enter our challenges and exceed all expectations with their innovations: THANK YOU!
We’re taking ‘getting user feedback’ to the extreme next week… by welcoming Inversity learners to ‘takeover’ the platform and build new features to improve personalisation, community and realism on Inversity! 🙌 And for the first time ever, the challenge is going to be ***free to enter*** even for non-subscribers - so if you want to explore what an Inversity challenge looks like, this is your moment 👀 As a unique prize, we’re also pledging a 2-day mini-internship with Mark & James for the winner - to help them take the winning prototype to the next level and maybe even get it into production on the Inversity site 🔥 (maturity dependent!). Very excited to see what people come up with...

Data science intern @prodigy infotech Pursuing Msc data science at St Aloysius College of IT and Management
Hello connections!! I have successfully completed the 1st task in the machine learning internship provided by CODTECH IT SOLUTIONS TASK ONE: LINEAR REGRESSION ON HOUSING PRICES - Implement linear regression to predict housing prices based on features like square footage, number of bedrooms, and location. Use a dataset like the Boston Housing dataset for training and evaluation.

Excited to share that the work I did during my internship with Francesco Piccinno and Andreea Marzoca is accepted at #ACL2024 main track! 😀 We explore generating structured representations (Mind Maps 🧠 🗺 and Tables 📝 ) of text using LLMs. We introduce a taxonomy of problems around factuality, global and local structure for these tasks. Additionally, via a user study, we show that structured representations reduce comprehension time for users compared to just plain text. Camera ready and more updates soon... **Structsum Generation for Faster Text Comprehension** https://lnkd.in/emRrh6Gc

There's no better way to end my internship at 🐢 Giskard than by publishing an article! In this article, I investigate the optimal number of Q&A required for fine-tuning an LLM in order to enhance a RAG system. I also study the impact of fine-tuning with distracting context on model performance. The goal is to identify what constitues an efficient and cost-effective strategy for fine-tuning in that context. Link: https://lnkd.in/d3WUmSrc Key Findings: - Adding even a single distracting document to the context when training an LLM helps it distinguish distracting context from supporting facts during inference, thus making it more efficient. This is especially interesting in a RAG setting, where the retrieval step might bring out distracting context; - Fine-tuning Mistral-7B-Instruct for a single epoch on under 1000 training samples is very quick and can significantly improves results. I would like to thank the entire team and especially Rabah Khalek, Benoît Malézieux, Matteo Dora, Pierre Le Jeune and Luca Martial for their guidance during those past 6 months. I learnt so much alongside the team during the various projects I participated in, especially about multimodal models, RAGs and fine-tuning. I am extremely grateful to you guys!

📝| Thesis succes! Eventhough I am still in the midst of my internship at Cordaid, my grading came in and I can now say I have succesfully finished my master’s thesis. The thesis, titled ‘𝘌𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘮 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘋𝘶𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘺 𝘴𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘛𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮: 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘴’, is a collection of network analyses and uses data from conspiracy groups on Telegram. A dark side of the online realm, but also one where individuals find support from like-minded people. In the thesis, I describe these groups as swarms: they produce noise and disrupt ‘normal’ discourse, but only rarely come together to form a solid collective.

Hlo connections…! I have completed my first task of CODTECH IT SOLUTIONS internship program. TASK 1 : Titanic Survival Prediction Project Overview:In this project, we set sail into the world of data exploration, leveraging Machine Learning to predict passenger survival on the historic Titanic. Our goal was to employ cutting-edge algorithms to analyze passenger data and unveil patterns influencing survival outcomes. What can we learn from these data? Look at the convergence of the student-self eval with the preceptor eval over the course of the Capstone Internship. (You can select for specific eval line items to see in isolation, too.) ❓Is it an increase in student self-awareness? ❓Simply an increase in understanding how that specific preceptor sees the student’s performance? ❓what additional metrics do we need in order to differentiate? There IS an Action Plan at the end of each eval that the preceptor constructs: ✅what did we do well ➖what could we improve ☑️ what will we DO on the very next call to be better ❓perhaps we need a summary view of all the Action Plans together so we can see if the convergence of the graph tracks with the instructions from the plans…? At Sterling Credentials, LLC we keep advancing the platform with educational TOOLS beyond the “minimum” tracking.
