It's always amazing how people applaud the finished work in fashion but the process of getting a dress made can be so tedious. The thing is when you love what you do, the process becomes fun. Bringing all of those pieces together, the only thing in my head is getting to the final outcome. How do I get it all together? 📌First, I critically analyse the design trying to understand the component of each part. At this point, if there is need for me to watch any tutorial video, I will do that. 📌 After dissecting the style, I go straight into cutting. There are some styles that require pattern drafting i.e cutting out on pattern paper, before you can cut it out on the fabric and there are some that I cut out directly on the fabric. One major trick I've learnt in the cutting segment is that you measure twice to cut once because you want to confirm your measurements are accurate. 📌Then I go ahead to add any accessory needed for the fabric like gumming of air stay, paper gum, light pad and the likes. 📌 Straightforward to the machine sewing every piece together and after this, all I have left is the finishing touch like weaving, embellishment and importantly, ironing. Trust me, ironing is a cogent part of fashion designing as it is essential for a neat looking outfit. NB: Not just for designers, for every soul interested in a perfect neat look, ironing should be a wardrobe routine.👌 This process can go on and on for days and sometimes weeks but the beautiful thing is, at the end of it all, there's this perfect outstanding look which brings joy and confidence to my clients.
