It’s graduation season, which means young people—and some very inspiring older people—are ending one life chapter and preparing to start their next. College students are reflecting on their very unusual four years, as commencement speakers seek to equally address this graduating class and this moment in history. In the spirit of closing chapters and new beginnings, here are a few thoughts to keep in mind this week, and may this week's reflection inspire possibilities for you, too. For many academics, this week marks the return of students and the beginning of a busy first semester. We thus are continuing to support everyone in academia through our #EveryLittleActionCounts campaign. Week #24 is a call to follow your passions! Being passionate about what we are doing is critical for finding meaning and purpose in our academic profession. By following our passions, we can foster a deep connection with our endeavours and thus inspire and empower others. “Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.” – Oprah Winfrey We can become more passionate about what we are doing by: 🌞Listening to our heart and soul: Find time to reflect on what matters most to you and create self-awareness of the extent to which you follow your passions. 🌞Trying out and integrating new things: If you don’t know your passions, make a list of new things, try them out and capture your experiences in a journal. 🌞Being resilient – never giving up: Following your passions is not always an easy task, it requires you to keep going even then when you feel alone and different. We wish everyone in #academia a very happy and positive new academic year. 🌞Let’s make a difference together!🌞 Anne-Wil Harzing & Christa Sathish. #academiclife #PhD #phdlife #highereducation #university #students #research #academia #academics #empowerment #changemakers #humanresources #organizationalculture #leadership

What we do is we, we go through a school year. We survive. We say who, okay, I'm glad that's over. We do all this stuff in the summer, only to repeat the same mistakes, only to face the same problems, only to to keep banging our heads against the same wall. How long are we going to do that? Isn't it time that we tried something different, but we never ever learn from the past? We just keep moving forward, as if last school year didn't happen. It did. And there's a lot of gold in last school year. There's a lot that you can learn. Discover how to design an incredible next year #LikeABuilder: https://lnkd.in/eaNejkZh #SchoolLeadership #EducationalLeadership #PrincipalLife #AssistantPrincipal #SchoolImprovement #EducationMatters #InnovativeLeadership #K12Education #FutureOfEducation #SchoolLeader #Principal #SchoolPrincipal #ProfessionalDevelopment #LikeABuilder

🌟 Celebrating the Power of Education and Connection 🌟 As I stumbled upon this cherished photograph from my days as a grade 7 teacher, a flood of memories and emotions engulfed me. Each face in this frame holds a story, a journey of growth, and a testament to the incredible power of education and human connection. In a world filled with chaos and uncertainty, it's moments like these that remind me of the profound impact we have as educators. Beyond the curriculum, beyond the tests and grades, lies the essence of our mission: to inspire, to empower, and to guide the next generation towards a brighter future. These bright young minds taught me as much as I taught them. They taught me resilience in the face of challenges, curiosity in the pursuit of knowledge, and above all, the boundless potential that resides within each and every one of us. As I reflect on my journey as a teacher, I am reminded that it's not just about imparting knowledge; it's about fostering a love for learning, nurturing empathy and understanding, and instilling the values that will guide these students long after they leave our classrooms. To my former students, wherever you may be now, know that you are the reason I do what I do. Your passion, your enthusiasm, and your unwavering spirit fuel my dedication to this noble profession every single day. And to my fellow educators, let us continue to strive for excellence, to champion inclusivity and diversity, and to never underestimate the transformative power of education. Together, we have the opportunity to shape a brighter tomorrow, one classroom at a time. So here's to the past, the present, and the future of education. May we continue to inspire, to uplift, and to ignite the flame of knowledge in the hearts and minds of generations to come. #EducationMatters #TeacherLife #Inspiration #MakingADifference #FutureLeaders 📚✨

Summer Reading Programs Combat Learning Loss Summer break is traditionally a period for students to unwind from the structured school environment. Yet, this recess can also usher in the “summer slide,” a period where students, especially those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, tend to lose crucial academic skills. This decay is notably severe in fundamental areas such as mathematics and reading. In today's video, we'll discuss one of the most potent defenses against the summer slide: summer reading programs! #EducationalLeader, Kim “When students are led well, they learn well.” The views shared in the Educational Leadership Moment are solely mine and do not reflect the positions of my employer or any entity within the local, state, or federal government sectors. #Education #Leadership

This past weekend at Michigan State📸 You can build someone up or tear someone down with your words. The person that is impacted by your words the most is you. Let’s face it, we are our harshest critic. We can be our own worst enemy. However, if we start to change that internal dialogue, we begin to change how we think and how we see the world. More importantly, we change how we see ourselves. Make sure you’re building yourself up. Your internal dialogue is the one voice you’ll hear more than anyone else’s. 🔥 #inspiration #professionalspeaker #students #college #highschool #internaldialogue #voices #motivation #lifecoach #lifecoaching #successtips #michiganstateuniversity #michigan #teaching #professor #keynotespeaker #personaldevelopment #selfimprovement #leadershipdevelopment #faith #lawofattraction #manifestation #spiritualgrowth #billyglifecoaching
