Polarization. It’s all around us. Humans are feeling less connected to their neighbors and more attached to their screens and data. Political affiliations have created new divides, and even as workplaces become more diverse, many report feeling lonelier than ever. We believe there's another way. This week, Carrie Fox (she/her) sits down with Mission Partners, Benefit LLC's Chief Operating Officer, Bridget Pooley and Chief Strategy Officer, Brian Fox to explore how connections can be strengthened in the workplace and beyond. Recorded in front of a live audience, they discuss practical strategies for bridging divides and leading by example. In 2021, Cordell Carter created a documentary titled "The Road Trip to Belonging." The film featured conversations with top executives from Fortune 10 Companies, all of whom held positions related to diversity, equity, and belonging. He found out one company, the nation's largest employer, had been championing these values since 2006. They believed that as a reflection of the nation, they had a responsibility to foster a sense of belonging among their employees. 🌏 Over the course of 15 years, they methodically rewired their corporate culture. When societal issues flared up, such as the George Floyd incident, there was surprisingly little internal uproar. The company had already undergone a transformation. This is a testament to the power of a systematic approach. Sometimes, organizations need to hit the pause button, reassess, and start afresh. 🔄 The story of this company serves as a powerful reminder that change is possible, and that it begins with a willingness to stop and rethink our approach. Repost this if you want to learn how the nation's largest employer successfully implemented diversity, equity, and belonging in their company. Navigating the cross-generational workforce is a current and future necessity. Offices are populated by up to five generations of workers, from those born in the 1960s to those born after 2000. He says avoid labeling characteristics as good or bad and instead view them as differences. Then, determine how to work around or with them. Also, try to find common values and interests. Harvey Deutschendorf - So many powerful perspectives! My upcoming book entitled: "Creating Purposeful Abundance" very much aligns with you and Emotional Intelligence (EI) as it pertains to generational understanding and collaboration. "Indeed, today’s workforce includes workers from four generations: Gen Z, millennials, Gen X, and baby boomers.' -) How do we better understand ourselves, our team and our community? -) What is Purposeful Abundance and why does it matter to those identified? -) How does a better understanding provide increased potential for better collaboration? -) Consequently, resulting in better alignment and greater results? https://lnkd.in/gUJpHBGt
