Conference Theme: IMPROVVISATION In a global context where precarity is growing, improvisation plays a central role for the majority of the world's population living with uneven access to primary resources such as food, water and healthcare which mark the current unequal social, political, environmental, and economic conditions across the world. Yet, improvisation may also be a way to reimagine the future, by turning forms of anticipation, like uncertainty, fear and anxiety, into new pathways of possibility and hope. Improvisation, as the adaptation to adverse circumstances, has been the subject of several anthropological scholarships in order to analyze how a precarity is transformed into possibility by people in need. Today will be my last day in Athens. So that also means the last 'problematic paper post' that will be posted from here. This paper has been published in 2024 and has not been cited yet. The publisher will be contacted to look at it, as it is part of a network of papers with similar problems. Preregistration actually leads to scientific papers of higher quality, as presented yesterday by Celine Heinl. Professor Maria Teressa Soto-Sanfiel (Maite) has presented our papers at #ICA2024. We have conducted an in-depth study on media consumers' reception of deepfakes, resulting in two papers for this year's ICA conference: 1. *To Share or Not to Share Deepfakes on Social Media: Exploring Individual Motivations* 2. *Psychological Mechanisms Behind Deepfake Reception*

Congratulations to Kenneth Deprez for winning the ISES 2024 ISES Europe Chapter Poster Competition! 🥇 In this poster, Kenneth discusses the design of a novel sensor that can measure 50 Hz magnetic fields. The sensor is needed to accurately quantify the long-term magnetic exposure in the vicinity of high voltage power lines. The sensor can measure both low fields, around 0.4 uT, for which a possible statistical relationship to long-term exposure and health effects is found and, high fields, 100 uT and 200 uT, which correspond to reference levels set by EU and the scientific community. Such a sensor was tested for about 4 months, in which it had a high uptime of 96% and a typical deviation of less then 5% with regard to the baseline. Title: "Watch The Power! In our brand new paper (Intelligence, Elsevier) we found that divergent thinking showed stronger synchronization in upper alpha band activity (EEG), especially in fronto-parietal regions, compared to convergent thinking. Peak synchronization occurred in the middle of trials for both types of thinking, indicating a complex interaction between divergent and convergent thinking processes within as well as across different knowledge domains.
