Working with collectors on their estate plans takes a high level of care. What happens to the collection in the event of incapacity? What happens to the collection on death? Often, the client will believe that a museum or institution will take the items - this is not always the case, and even if it is the case who pays to insure and ship the items? If not, where do the items go? To another collector? For art and crafts, back to the artist? If you have art or collectables in your home, make a list/take photos. Do not leave it up to your successors to parse what came from Pottery Barn and what has real value and meaning. #estateplanning #estateplanningwithheart #artcollection

But where to buy art? There are only two options to consider when buying art: the primary art market and secondary art market. The first option (the primary market) is based on the rules of connoisseurship, individual expertise and trust and most often pertains to works of art sold for the first time. The secondary market is almost purely governed by the age old system of supply and demand and mostly involve the trade of artworks that had previously been available on the primary market. The primary art market is driven by the art seller. Gallerists, fine art consultants, art dealers and artist themselves form part of this group of vendors.

Hey, cut it out! (Just like Henri Matisse ✂️). During the last decade of his life, Matisse relied on using cut pieces of colored paper as his primary medium to build vibrant and sometimes massive compositions. In our latest blog post written by Abigail Yoder, you can read more about Matisse and his cut-outs: https://lnkd.in/gYHRtHsX
