During my internship, I had the opportunity to work across various departments, each offering new insights and invaluable experiences: - I contributed research and attended a client seminar for Allianz delivered by Neil Shah and Lisa Taylor —an eye-opening experience in simplifying complex legal topics for clients -Learned about the history of the insurance industry and how this has shaped the nature of business development in this area with Andrew Tobin - Real estate site visits with Fredrik Edlund Edmund and Tim Wild , as a visual learner this helped me understand key concepts within Real Estate. - Discussed the firm’s ESG strategy and its internal implementation as well as its impacts on clientele with Jessica Wilkes-Ball MICRS AIEMA and Judith Houston - Discovered a passion for business development through conversations with Matt Skipper and Deborah Dawson, who highlighted the importance of building professional networks and leveraging connections. When was the last time you self-advocated? Yes I'm talking to you .. stop scrolling for one second 😉. Here's vintage Em ... I was 19 and doing my internship with Lloyds Banking Group (and feelin' super fancy at a rooftop bar in Bank for post-work drinks 👀 ). During that internship I experienced the importance of self-advocation at a very early stage in my career. Whilst at Bristol I had attended an event on in-house law, on the panel was a man who worked at Lloyds. I was in the office one day and saw the same man who had been on that panel. Here's when I took action. I could have very easily let it go but I've always been the kind of person that wants to continue to learn and develop even if that means that I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I sent him a message where I told him I was looking for a professional mentor and we arranged a coffee meeting. 6 years have now passed and we still meet every month for a catch up. If I hadn't taken a chance on myself I would have missed out on an incredible mentoring experience that has literally spanned a huge chunk of my early adult life. Stop being afraid to take a chance on yourself .. the worst that could have happened to me would have been either a one-time meet or not receiving a response (nothing earth shattering). I would love to know how you have self-advocated because I really don't think we're taught these skills often enough. #selfadvocacy #personaldevelopment #growth

I am excited to share that I have just completed a virtual internship at Morrison Foerster, focusing on IP litigation on Forage. This experience has been incredibly enriching and has significantly broadened my understanding of intellectual property law. During my internship, I delved into the specifics of trade secrets under California Civil Code § 3426.1. I learned that a "trade secret" includes information such as formulas, patterns, compilations, programs, devices, methods, techniques, or processes that derive independent economic value from not being generally known to the public and are subject to reasonable efforts to maintain their secrecy. Examples of competitors' confidential and proprietary information include unpatented inventions, software (including algorithms and associated data files), blueprints, design files, technical specifications, lists of existing and prospective customers, and any information marked as secret, confidential, or proprietary. Conversely, I also studied the Agency Solutions.Com, LLC D.B.A. Healthconnect Systems v. The Trizetto Group, Inc. case, which clarified that ideas or concepts, general knowledge in the trade, proprietary ways of doing the same thing that others in the field do, and background information evident in the operation of software are not considered trade secrets. This internship has provided me with a solid foundation in IP litigation and trade secrets, and I am eager to apply this knowledge in my future legal endeavours. #MorrisonFoerster #IPlitigation #California #WIPO
