This recent-ish episode of Lenny's podcast on communication is one of my all-time favorites. The guest, Matt Abrahams, talks about a few important "structures" to follow to communicate more clearly on the spot. I tend to get very excited during conversations, which can sometimes result in people not being clear on the main takeaways if I'm not intentional about my communication. These little communication structures are helpful guardrails to make sure the main point is clear. One I've been using often is the ADD structure for answering questions: (A)nswer (D)etailed example (D)escribe the relevance If you haven't listened to the podcast, check it out here: https://lnkd.in/ea2x_7wU

When forming an Ensemble, owners need to reorganize leadership, job roles, and reporting relationships to support a new team-based approach to advising and serving clients. What factors should an owner consider when designing a new team-based organization structure? Start with a blank page. At this stage, don’t just map your old organization to your new organization. Instead, start from scratch. Current-state considerations will come into play later. A general rule to follow is “strategy drives structure.” Owners should have a clear and specific idea where they want to be in 36 months and the major actions they must take to get to this point of arrival. The choices made on how you design jobs and group those job roles together into teams should make it as easy as possible for you to accomplish your 3-year objectives. In other words, plant the seeds of the organization you need three years from now. We tackle this issue and more in our Road to Ensemble podcast series. Enjoy!!
