During the past few weeks, Midwest Studies Group is honored to have been getting a lot of requests from those looking to start a Capital Campaign. Just a few tips to organizations looking to start one: 1) A Capital Campaign is like good BBQ . . . you need to cook it "low and slow". Don't rush into starting one. Take the time to do things the right way and have a plan in place. Don't get out there and start selling bricks and t-shirts. 2) Have you done a strategic plan and feasibility study yet? Some teams do one game a year fully immersed in activations around a non-profit. Others might do 3-4. And then there's the Texas Legends. Every home game fully themed out supporting a philanthropic mission. 100%. We don't wear our traditional home jerseys (although we are still forced to buy them - which puzzles me to this day). Why? Because we believe that sports are a platform to something bigger. A platform to lift people up. Bring people together from all backgrounds to have a shared experience together. A platform to give back. Not sometimes. Not part-time. 100% of the time. Only in Legends Land.

I'll share with you what I'm doing with my daughter in this first public event they are doing. Normally I shy away from these as I don't like peddling for money for kids fundraising. I love supporting others and tend to do that instead of asking for your engagement. I'm realizing that's not a great relationship and need to do better. So instead, I'm going to use this event to help my daughter learn leadership skills. Through this challenge I'll be focusing on the following: 1) Creating presence and personal brand identity 2) Having a personal vision, mission and values to work towards 3) Enjoying the process, measuring growth, and setting new goals Would like to learn yourself for you and your kids?
