That’s a wrap on the Maryland Association of Counties Summer Conference in Ocean City, MD! This year’s theme was “Turning the Tide” and Gilbane’s team was making waves. We saw some major themes that will help transform Maryland, including investment in the development of a skilled and qualified workforce and renewable energy. We connected with partners across the state to discuss leveraging public-private partnerships, like our Prince George’s County Public Schools Blueprint Schools Program, to support the future development of Maryland’s public school system and bridge gaps in educational facilities. We shared our plans to grow the pipeline of future AEC talent and the next generation of builders through our robust internship programs, Gilbane’s Next150 apprenticeships, and support of workforce development initiatives. It was also great connecting with two of our MBE partners, Corenic Construction and The ELOCEN Group at this year’s conference! To us, building our communities also means providing opportunities for diverse local firms and businesses, and we're excited to continue our relationship with both of these firms and others throughout Maryland. #GilbaneBuildsMaryland

Gilbane Building Company, in association with WarrenBuilds, celebrates the completion of the new Legacy Hall, a 604-bed student residential tower on Morgan State University's campus. Completed in just 21 months, Legacy Hall was built adjacent to the recently completed Thurgood Marshall Hall Student Housing and Dining Facility. We’re thrilled to announce that Anthony Armento has joined Gilbane Building Company as senior preconstruction executive in Gilbane's Philadelphia office. In his role, Anthony will oversee the daily operations of Gilbane’s preconstruction department. He will report to Jim Gibson, vice president of preconstruction, who will continue leading the overall strategy and advancement of Gilbane’s preconstruction and purchasing departments in their Philadelphia office. Anthony comes to Gilbane after spending the last 17 years with a local competitor, where he had roles in estimating and purchasing. He most recently served as the senior preconstruction director for its Philadelphia office, where he was responsible for overseeing estimating and purchasing, recruiting and developing a high-performing preconstruction team, and cultivating client relationships. In addition to Anthony’s experience and relationships in the Greater Philadelphia Area, his network extends to the North Jersey marketplace, which complements Gilbane’s presence in Newark, New Jersey.
