One area where post surgical rehab (especially for return to sport or high intensity labor) needs disruption is in regards to isokinetic dynamometers. The current units on the market are expensive (even the refurbished units cost in the mid $40k USD territory) and are quite large for many clinics. Based on current research it’s at least suspected isometric dynamometers can’t completely replace isokinetic options (though it’s been nice to have options like the VALD ForceFrame available where there’s much better visual representation of force curves and rate of force production). In my opinion the current isokinetic machines are very similar to the old IBM computers of the 60s (both large bulky machines at high price points) and yet because this is healthcare change for some reason tends to be slow. What are your thoughts?
