Seagate's FQ324 results were released yesterday showing incremental improvement in most, if not all financial metrics.
Particular improvement was achieved in Gross Margin and EPS.
-They announced the sale of their ASIC design team and IP to Broadcom.
- They stated that their conventional PMR 24-28TB family and their 30TB HAMR product are in simultaneous qualification.
- The 24-28TB has qualified at one major enterprise customer, some Tier-2 customers, and their internal enterprise systems business, and is in qualification at most all other global cloud customers. They stated that they expect to ship "significant volumes of this product in 1HFY25.
- The 30TB HAMR product qualification has been delayed at their lead CSP customer, with the problem traced to one mechanical component, and it sounds like it was specific to a single supplier (out of several) for that component. Units with that particular suppliers' part have been segregated and removed from the population and the qual has re-started. This appears to have reduced their previous projection of 30TB unit shipments down to "a few hundred thousand" in the June quarter. The also said that they have completed qualification of the 30TB HAMR at a "major non-cloud customer".
- They stated that the 24-28TB PMR and the 30TB HAMR families are 95% common in components.

Following one of the few accepted processes to collect intel and objectively weigh the pros and cons of the data can help steer you away from making unsound decitions"
Progress in US CHIPS act implementation should inspire and benefit our actions here in Canada as stated by Canada's Semiconductor Council member Kevin O'Neil, Managing Director of AMD Canada: "“As the North American semiconductor supply chain reconfigures and advanced semiconductor manufacturing returns, Canada has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to establish itself as a critical link in the ecosystem,” said Kevin O’Neil, CVP, Legal & Managing Director, AMD Canada. “The $52 billion USD investment to expand US-based advanced semiconductor manufacturing included in the 2022 US CHIPS and Science Act will reshape the market and open up substantial opportunities for Canada's chip sector.”

Subject: The Geopolitical Significance of Semiconductors in the New World Economic Order
Introduction:
The global landscape is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the emergence of a new world economic order characterized by the growing significance of semiconductors. This Executive Intelligence Management Report aims to dissect the multidimensional implications of semiconductors within the context of global political economy and sustainability. It also delves into the ramifications of the new Cold War, which encompasses socio-political, economic, and technological dimensions.
2. PESTEL Analysis of Semiconductors:
a. Political: Geopolitical tensions surrounding semiconductor supply chains have intensified, driven by competition for technological dominance between major powers. Trade restrictions, export controls, and national security concerns shape the political landscape, impacting the flow of semiconductor materials and components.
b. Economic: Semiconductors contribute significantly to economic growth, job creation, and industrial competitiveness. However, disruptions in the semiconductor supply chain, such as shortages or price fluctuations, can trigger ripple effects across various sectors, highlighting the economic interdependencies at play.
c. Sociocultural: The proliferation of semiconductor-enabled technologies influences societal norms, behaviors, and interactions. Access to digital platforms, data privacy concerns, and the digital divide are sociocultural dimensions that warrant attention in the semiconductor discourse.
d. Technological: Rapid advancements in semiconductor technology drive innovation and fuel the development of next-generation devices and systems. However, technological dependencies and vulnerabilities pose risks, particularly in the context of cybersecurity and intellectual property protection.
e. Environmental: Sustainability considerations are paramount in semiconductor manufacturing processes, given their resource-intensive nature and environmental footprint. Efforts to mitigate environmental impacts, promote clean energy adoption, and enhance circular economy practices are crucial for long-term sustainability.
f. Legal: Regulatory frameworks governing semiconductor trade, intellectual property rights, and antitrust regulations shape market dynamics and competitive landscapes. Compliance with international standards and legal obligations is essential for fostering a conducive business environment.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, semiconductors represent a pivotal nexus of geopolitical, economic, and technological dynamics, shaping the contours of the new world economic order. By harnessing the power of digital platforms and geostrategic consulting, stakeholders can elucidate this intricate narrative and empower decision-makers to navigate the complexities of the global semiconductor landscape effectively.
In an article published in Intellectual Property Strategist, MoFo’s Bita Rahebi and Reid Knabe explore the effects of the Creating Helpful Incentives to Protect Semiconductors Act (CHIPS Act) since it was signed into law in August 2022. Learn more. https://gag.gl/GonKEJ
