There is an important point to make here. #Caxton did a great job of the new buildings brickwork, with conventional modern mortar supplied by #CPI to build the (self-supporting) masonry cladding. On the historic buildings, which are solid loadbearing brickwork, moisture open and without any cavity, the brickwork contractor was #ConcreteRenovations. For these facades, use of conventional silo-based cementitious mortar would be destructive, as it would impede the movement of moisture through the wall, and risk extensive moisture and salt damage to the historic masonry. So the mortars for new bedding and repointing within historic walls were all NHL - sand mixes, sampled for appearance, and with mix proportions varied to suit each specific task. That's not to denigrate #Caxton's contribution, the new brickwork looks great - but mortar choice is fundamental to repair of masonry
