Miami-Dade TPO’s Enhancing SRTS along the South Dade Trail Feasibility Study is now available. This study examined the need for improved bicycle and pedestrian access to public schools in South Miami-Dade along the South Dade Trail and assessed the current Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program’s capacity to meet these needs. The SRTS program is a funded program aimed at making walking and biking to and from school safe, practical, and enjoyable. The South Dade Trail, spanning from Dadeland to Florida City, connects numerous municipalities which represent some of the fastest growing communities in Miami-Dade County. The study identified key opportunities for improvement and proposed enhancements along the trail in three phases: Short-Term (3-5 years), Mid-Term (5-7 years), and Long-Term (10+ years). Gustavus lands at #4 in the WSJ “Top 10 Liberal Arts Colleges in the Midwest” coming in ahead of Carleton College, Macalester College, Augustana College, and Grinnell College. The WSJ/College Pulse rankings are based on student outcomes, the learning environment, and diversity of the students and faculty. Student outcomes, which account for 70 percent of a College’s overall score, include graduation rates, salaries of graduates, and how well salaries offset the cost of attendance.
Lake Forest College is the highest-ranked liberal-arts college in the Midwest in the WSJ/College Pulse ranking, followed by Albion and DePauw.

Most of the conversation about college costs focuses on tuition, but living on campus (as is sometimes required) has been fueling the debt crisis for many students. My The Wall Street Journal colleague Shane Shifflett and I did a deep dive into dorm rates at a dozen prominent public universities nationwide to show you just how much prices have risen. In many cases, schools hike prices when they upgrade housing -- private bedrooms, suite-style bathrooms, a/c, pools -- and say students expect those amenities. But even rooms that look a lot like what the prior generation had are getting way more expensive, even after adjusting for inflation. #college #campushousing #collegeaccess #highered

There was a real curveball at the Committee Stage of the Renters (Reform) Bill. The proposed Student Ground will be restricted to HMOs only. So does that essentially mean that students will no longer have the option of forming a group of 2 and won't be able organise anything less than 3-bed PRS accommodation in advance of the next academic year? There is a decent percentage of 1-2 bed PRS student properties in York (10%) and Leeds (16.64%) as a sample check to provide just 2 examples. This is going to restrict supply and push these types of properties towards the serviced accommodation market. The student market will lose a minimum of 5% of the total rooms considering the PRS accommodates 50% of all students. If anything, if you go by viewing demand I would say there aren't enough 2-bed options. What about properties that have downsized from a 3 to a 2 due to HMO licensing requirements? Details on page 3. #landlords #property #propertymanagement #lettings #landlordsuk

Where exactly are colleges spending tuition dollars? Arguments can be made from both sides of higher education regarding tuition costs. One thing is clear, costs are going up and levels of transparency are going down. Are you considering going back to school or paying for a dependent's college? Creating a financial plan can help ease your mind and set you on a path to reach your goals. #wealthmanagement #financialplanning #HighProbabilityAdvisors

I thought this was an interesting read this morning. An Oregon county is interested in building a 100-site park and is going to apply for grant funding to help pay for the planning process. The grant is paid for with fees collected from RV registrations...etc. I have seen local governments do this before, but this is probably one of the larger parks that I have seen a local municipality try to build over the past several years. Is it on that line of using public money to compete with private businesses? What are your thoughts? #wcm #woodallscm #outdoorindustry #outdoorrecreation #outdoorhospitality #campgrounds #camping #rvparks #rving #glamping
