The million-dollar lesson Kendrick Lamar taught us this year: You don’t have to be the loudest in the room to have the biggest impact. While Drake trolled Kendrick on the internet for weeks… While people criticized Kendrick for taking too long to respond… While people questioned if Kendrick was even a worthy opponent for Drake…. Kendrick was silently strategizing. He built a genius-level strategy that: ✅ Made hip hop fans question Drake's morals, integrity, and authenticity ✅ Kept us on the edge of our seats for 3-months straight– capitalizing on major holidays ✅ Sparked conversations (how many of you had to break the beef down to your families because it was just THAT hot of a topic?) ✅ Created a bop of the summer that will go down in hip-hop history Oh, and the kicker? Kendrick hasn’t said a word. Not a tweet. Not an interview. Just music. When you have the talent, it speaks for itself.
Real Hip Hop fans never questioned if Kendrick was a worthy opponent for Drake it was the other way around. I'm a Kendrick fan and Kendrick wanted this battle years ago. No one remembers Kendrick on the CONTROL album? yea he was pokin drake low key for years. "no diddy"
Honestly, he’s taught us a very important lesson this summer about keeping our actions private until you’re ready to show the fruits of your labor to the world. Not everything needs to be announced beforehand and I doubt it would have had such a bit impact if he gave us a preview or notification that this was in the works.
Well said. People forget #Drake started as AN ACTOR (hello!??....DRAMA!, over the top performances, the spotlight etc). #KendrickLamar on the other hand is an artist, pure and simple. #HipHop #HipHopCulture
I love when people use current events to teach valuable lessons!
Also, he showed his connection to his community on several levels. The beat, the song, spoke directly to the Black Cali dancers who go viral on Tik-Tok for their creative dance routines. I'm sure he knew the connection/impact when making the song. It served as a base for what made it so viral.
🔥 they not like us
One guy is playing chess and the other is playing checkers. Not even close & I don’t have a dog in the fight just watching how being loud doesn’t always mean you are winning.
That man has kept his foot on our necks for MONTHS and it's not even the end of summer yet! I wouldn't doubt he got something else coming lol. This also taught me to channel that pettiness into action!
An incredible example of knowing who YOU are, how YOU do things, and making good choices about who's in your inner circle.
