Funny, relatable and social first. That’s right, social first. Just because it’s living life outside of a social media channel doesn’t mean it’s not social first. I’d imagine most people who took notice of this billboard, stopped, read it, snapped a photo and shared it somewhere online (FB, IG, LinkedIn, WhatsApp). I bet most people who have seen these two ads have also been entertained and as a follow up their brand recall will be strong too. Therefore the next time they’re in Sainsbury’s they’ll either: 1. Look for the products and buy them out of curiosity 2. Potentially stumble across them and buy them out of curiosity 3. Stumble across the brand and put a smile on their face All because they remembered the humerus and relatable ads they saw IRL or through the viral moment of someone sharing this ad with them on a social channel. My top tips for any social content? 1. Be real and authentic to your customer base 2. Think outside of the channels a campaign or BAU piece of content could live on 3. Don’t be perfect, be relatable 4. Be ENTERTAINING
