VINCI Building UK has been shortlisted as one of just five contractors in the Major Contractor of the Year (over £500m) category at this year’s Building Awards 2024.
The recent announcement came on what will be the 30th anniversary of the event. This year’s awards will once again be held, with the ceremony set to take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on 5 November 2024.
VINCI Building’s North West Business Unit’s New Victoria Development has also been shortlisted in the ‘Delivering Social Value Award’ category for actively developing innovative social value activities. This included formulating an innovative, practical solution to help local homeless people by partnering with charity, Lifeshare, to repurpose site accommodation and transforming it into a vital pop-up, drop-in centre while unoccupied over the Christmas periods.

Today, we were privileged to welcome one of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity team into our factory to deliver a powerful message, via his own lived experiences, to our workforce about the importance of looking after your Mental Health and being aware of others.
There are no photos here. We didn’t want the employees to feel like this was a “tick box” exercise or a social media driven event. That’s not why we do these things. We do them because we care.
However, we did feel the need to share this online, as there are many companies out there like ours, that will hopefully organise something like this for their staff in the future.
If you didn’t know, The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families. A crucial element of their strategy is to provide a wide range of free and widely available pro-active resources to support the industry; this extends to us in manufacturing, supplying products to the construction industry.
You can find out more about the charity here… https://lnkd.in/eJf7-C4i#mentalhealth#welbeing

If you or someone you know needs assistance, the Lighthouse Club is here to help. You can call 0345 6051956 in the UK or 1800 939122 in ROI, or text HARDHAT to 85258 in the UK or 50808 in ROI.
Let's make sure that we're taking care of our wellbeing and supporting each other during these challenging times.

Companies nurture leaders and learn how to innovate in various ways, with acquiring knowledge being certainly one of the key approaches. Having more leaders who share the same knowledge within one organisation is a starting point for #positivechange. #IFLP
Knowledge is to be shared, especially the knowledge that drives a company to deliver its mission.
Having been an #IFLP participant herself, Sarah Bolton is now delighted to see more colleagues joining the Programme and supporting the charity in its innovation efforts.
“Breaking out of our norms" is how Sarah described the benefits of IFLP, which is why the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity sends more leaders to the IFLP programme.

Today, we launched the first ever London Rough Sleeping Charter.
It’s a public commitment for Londoners to work together to end rough sleeping.
This Charter brings communities, businesses and charities together to say there’s nothing inevitable about someone sleeping rough and that by working together, we can end rough sleeping in London.
The cost-of-living and other changes in Govt policy are putting more Londoners at risk of losing their homes and ending up with nowhere to go.
As Mayor, I’m determined to do everything possible to end rough sleeping in the capital.
Find out how the Charter will help end rough sleeping for good: https://lnkd.in/d9hMmvf9

As part of our commitment to supporting the Neilcott team, we are helping staff develop their own skills and knowledge around the importance of mental health, and have encouraged our team to undertake the valuable Mental Health Awareness Course, provided by the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity.
Thank you to all that have taken part and to those that have signed up for the Lighthouse Charity's Suicide Awareness Training Course, taking place over the next few weeks.
We are big advocators of making wellbeing support more visible within the construction industry, and are eager to reinforce our workforce with the skills that they need to help themselves, and their colleagues.
Training covers signs to look out for to know when others are struggling, coping techniques, ways to support yourself and others and steps to move forward.
We encourage everyone within the construction industry to educate themselves around the importance of mental wellbeing, remain alert and recognise when others are struggling. In a world where workers in construction have a suicide rate of 3.7x higher than the national average, it is more important than ever.
There are still many slots available for The Lighthouse Charity's next training course on Suicide Awareness, book your spot now.
