This is a health care issue, and it’s one that has a lot of different tentacles to it,” said Strategy Manager Charles Richardson of Advance Peace Lansing. Ponder Diversity Group stands united with the City of Chicago and Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) - O'Hare & Midway International Airports in the crucial mission to combat gun violence in Chicago and nationwide. This initiative not only prioritizes public safety but also underscores a moral obligation, especially for communities on the city’s south and west sides. Understanding the intricate factors contributing to gun violence, such as socioeconomic disparities, access to firearms, mental health challenges, social influences, and systemic inequalities, is paramount. Urgent action is essential to address this pressing issue and its severe impact on Black and diverse communities. Efforts to tackle gun violence require holistic approaches encompassing prevention, intervention, enforcement, and community empowerment. These strategies aim to foster safe environments where everyone can flourish without the shadow of fear or harm. Commendations to Mayor Brandon Johnson, the City of Chicago, and CDA Commissioner Jamie Rhee for their unwavering commitment to the well-being and future of all Chicago communities by taking a firm stand to eliminate gun violence once and for all.⚫️ #endgunviolence #epidemic #cityofchicago #chicagodepartmentofaviation #CDA #publicsafety #moralimperative #socialjustice #systemicinequality #equity #communityempowerment

Show Topic: The Way Forward A Conversation About Policing And Crime In America Join the Co-host Chiefs on Thursday at 6PM CST. As they discuss is there a way forward a conversation about policing and crime in America. The year 2020 was clearly an extremely challenging time for communities and law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. High-profile use-of-force incidents led to days of protests, civil unrest, and, tragically, further violence, destruction, and death. After the most recent police brutality incident in Mississippi where six former Rankin County Sheriff deputies are facing prison time for the brutal beating of two black men. So, the challenge confronting our communities and our agencies is how to effectively move forward together to build a shared understanding and identify common solutions to better protect our communities. Congratulations to Crain's Chicago Business on another impactful and engaging Crain’s Forum Live event, with publisher Jim Kirk in dialogue with Chicago Police Department Superintendent Larry Snelling on public safety in Chicago. Joyce is a proud sponsor of the monthly Crain’s Forum, published in Chicago, Detroit, Grand Rapids and Cleveland. Our investment in Crain’s Forum and in-person events like this underscores our commitment and belief that strong public policy reporting and analysis is critical in building support for innovative ideas that help solve some of our most pressing issues. During the hourlong discussion, Supt. Snelling confirmed his commitment to the effective and complete implementation of the consent decree, and agreed that the consent decree in and of itself is not the goal, but rather a tool to achieving effective and constitutional policing in Chicago. He also talked about the dangers of social media in escalating gang violence, and he said he was committed to utilizing and expanding community policing strategies in Chicago. For more than 25 years we’ve worked intentionally at the intersection of gun violence prevention and justice reform because we want our communities to be safe AND just. Chief External Affairs Officer Kayce Ataiyero imparted that exact message on behalf of our team in attendance (Kathleen Clarke, Timothy Daly, Hugh Dellios, Sabrina Miller, Joseph Solis Morla 🏳️🌈, Victoria M. Spires, MSHRM, Francisco J. Velasco, CPA, Dr. Quintin Williams, Prima Soemijantoro Wilson & Arun Zachariah, CPA), and our entire organization. #Chicago #PublicSafety #Policing #GunViolencePrevention #JusticeReform #PublicAffairs #PublicPolicy #CrainsChicago #CrainsForum #GreatLakes

"We're not going to arrest our way into safer cities", says Eddie Garcia, Chief of the Dallas Police Department in the City of Dallas. This article by the Joseph Barrett and Cameron McWhirter at the The Wall Street Journal talks about the #publicsafetycollaborative model which is supported by Simsi in the City of Newark and place-based strategies used by the Child Poverty Action Lab (CPAL) and Alan C. in partnership with Dallas: https://lnkd.in/gHTcyXPs There are many ways to use #evidencebased practices to tackle crime, going beyond hot spots and using #riskterrainmodeling to understand the context of what #places are attracting crime. With that knowledge, #placebasedpartnerships have the ability to use tools which are more inclusive of the community, rather than mere high-intensity police enforcement. Dallas proved this by both reducing crime while also dropping their arrest numbers. Want to learn more about using Simsi's RTMDx and DICE™ to help your community?
